QUESTION 1. What is your name (or nickname/pen-name if preferred)?
justcallmesavage

QUESTION 2. What started you on the path to writing?
— I started writing when I was in middle school. It became a way for me to express myself and kinda keep myself out of trouble because I was always angry and wanted to fight.

QUESTION 3. When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer, and specifically in the genre of urban fiction?
— So I've been writing since middle school, and it was always an on and off again thing. People always told me that I could write, but I didn't take it serious at the time because I had other things that I had to focus on. In 2014, I wrote my book "Learning To Love Complicated" (Originally titled "In Love With A Thug" starring August Alsina) and I saw a lot of people starting to like it.

From that point forward, I kept going and wrote a six book series and I decided to take writing seriously because I felt like I had what a lot of authors lacked. In regards to the urban genre, well I can only write about stuff that I know. I started off reading urban fiction in middle school, and I just took the things that I've seen and heard and decided that genre would be best for me. However, I am starting to branch off into other genres because urban fiction is becoming cliche. Everybody knows in the urban genre there's always lies, cheating, sex, drugs, shooting etc. The first time that you add your characters having a crackhead for a mama, and she tries to sell the character off for some crack or something people say "Oh, I read this in another book you copying such and such." which is why I'm starting to get into other genres because it's cliche, and it's the same story over and over again just worded differently.

QUESTION 4. When did you write your first book and how old were you?
— I wrote my first book in the sixth grade, I will never forget. I was like eleven or twelve, I can't really remember but I remember I wrote my very first book in a notebook and my friends would trade the notebook around after every class period and be like "This book so good man." Truth of the matter is, I still have that book, and I went back and read it and I had to laugh. That book is trash, I didn't know what the hell I was doing lol.

QUESTION 5. Who are some of your favorite authors on and off Wattpad?
— I don't really have any favs on Wattpad but I do read UrbanQueen books cause she makes you feel like you're apart of the story and you can visualize everything like it's a movie. tvpacshakvr my FAVORITE author on Wattpad but she doesn't write on Wattpad anymore but she left some great things behind. KaeMarjPublishing is really dope as well. The first book I read by her was "Rapped Up" but her book "Autobiography" is amazing!
