QUESTION 1. What is your name (or nickname/pen-name if preferred)?
— My name is Isabelle, I go by Issy, and on Wattpad I'm usually referred as GreenPencil

QUESTION 2. What started you on the path to writing?
— Truthfully; a boring internship where I had free access to a computer got me started, and before I knew it, I was writing two of my current completed works.

QUESTION 3. When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer, and specifically in the genre of urban fiction?
— I realized writing was definitely something I was falling in love with when I realized I would take hours creating a world and characters and it just made sense. I had been on Wattpad for years and knew of the lack of representation of black characters on the site. Despite the large change from 10 years ago, it's dope seeing more writings with color of people being creative and showing us in different spectrums.

QUESTION 4. When did you write your first book and how old were you?
— In 2016 and I was 20 years old.

QUESTION 5. Who are some of your favorite authors on and off Wattpad?
— There's no particular order but these writers are ALL different with their own style, and you can surely find MORE THAN three of their books in my reading list; LucyMangoXX AmethystAmber87 DLittleWriter jewela JustCortney drizzyvibes- snewburg

QUESTION 6. What are the upsides and downsides to being an author?
— I think the upside of being a writer is the creativity flowing and being able to participate in other forms of art and understand the process of creating. I think there is a beauty in creation and being able to see your creation. Like art or photography, I think writing is the same but it's all about the words like rap/hip-hop.

The downside is always seeking appreciation for your work. I think it's a downside because sometimes in the mix of it, you can lose your joy and the real reason you fell in love with your work.

QUESTION 7. Why do you write? What keeps you motivated during creative slumps?
— I write because I like being able to create a world and people that are relatable and get a reaction out of readers. I am big on music, so sometimes when the right song comes on, it can definitely change my mood and make me want to jump back onto writing and get inspired all over again.

QUESTION 8. Do you outline books ahead of time or are you more of a by-the-seat-of-your-pants writer?
— I am a lot of a by-the-seat-of-your-pants writer, which explains how sometimes my stories' update frequency is not all that great. I usually have my synopsis written before I actually even beginning writing the first chapter or having characters and some characteristics in mind. But many of my inspiration comes from so many different things which makes the writing more spontaneous and a bit fun to explore.

QUESTION 9. How many books have you written?
— I have 3 completed works on Wattpad, and one I am still currently working on.

QUESTION 10. If someone is brand new to your work, what book do you think they should start with?
— My favorite piece of work is "Stories Written on Diner Napkins"; it is a short piece, not long like my previous stories, but I would encourage a new reader to read it. I think it would be an introduction to my style and a welcome to what to expect from my other works.

QUESTION 11. What do your fans mean to you?
— EVERYTHING, they took a chance on me and my work so they mean truly mean everything and beyond!
