As silence fills the room again, I'm startled by my phone which starts ringing. I look down at it, it's my dad.
"Hey, what's up" I say, picking up
"Hi Amelia, I was going to head back home but roads are cut off so a few coworkers and I are stuck in the office. I don't know when I'll be back"
"Oh, okay... I have someone over right now dad"
"Alright, I'll let you be then, call you later, love you"
"...love you too dad" he hangs up after I say the last word and I put my phone down by me, looking at Clem again.
"My father's stuck in his office. Where does your, uh, family work?"
"Well, Mary, my adoptive mum, works at an old people's home which means she'll probably stay over night tonight and Evan, her husband, works at an insurance company called Roy's or something-" I immediately recognise that name
"My dad works there! I'm pretty sure that means Evan is uhh.. Stuck."
She chuckles a bit.
"Guess he is, huh?" She lets a smile on her lips- "well, that's fine by me. Saying that, I should call him to say where I am. My adoptive little sister is with her grandparents right now anyway, because of all the unpacking and packing and moving stuff. Evan actually just started in the company about a week ago"
"My father trains some of the new ones, maybe they already know each other"
"Maybe. Hang on, I need to call him"
