"Ugh," I grumbled as I roughly threw off the covers twisted around my body. I rolled over to blink at the brightly illuminated alarm clock on my bedside table.

2:00 AM

" Damn it," I muttered. I had woken up from another bad dream; my mom was getting beat up by my dad. It was a regular dream, though, so it was kind of weird that I woke up. Most likely, I wouldn't be getting back to sleep any time soon.

I got up and peeked through the blinds over the kitchen sink, only to see thick gray fog covering the earth. My mother sat on the front porch smoking a cigarette, a 24 ounce bottle of Miller Light by her side. Nothing unusual.

" SHIZNITS!" I yelled and doubled over as my stomach cramped up. I need food. It growled loud enough to wake up the neighborhood as I walked over to the refrigerator.

Rubbing the crust from my eyes, I surveyed the fridge only to find a half-gallon of milk, some spoiled yogurt, and a jar of dill pickles.

I decided to look in the cabinets for something a little more appetizing. One after another I opened them, hoping for a suprise like blueberry pancakes, or cereal at the bare minimum. All that was in the cabinets were crumbs from old groceries and a 32 pack of ramen noodles.

I grabbed a pack and headed towards the kitchen to boil the noodles. After adding the sause, I relaxed on the couch while watching shows like Judge Judy. We only got a few channels, but I found the show House somewhat disturbing.

Once I finished the movie Up, I decided to take a shower. My day had finally begun.
