Micah POV

I'm waiting at my locker for her to walk in. It has been hell waiting all weekend to see her. I tried to see her on Friday but she was helping her father. As much as I wanted to see her it is nice that her family means as much to her as mine does to me. It is getting close to the bell ringing, Aryn still hasn't arrived. I start to get nervous, she is never late.

I watched her for months, waiting for the right time to approach her. Then Mrs. Lucas gave me the perfect opportunity with that group project. It didn't seem to matter though she won't let me get close. I wish she would just let me in. The bell rings, she still isn't here. I growl as the wolf in me is getting impatient, where is she?

Having a bad feeling I texted Liam letting him know that I am leaving to go check on Aryn. His reply is instant "wait for me." I wait, my wolf pacing in my head, wanting to leave to get our mate. He comes running down the hallway; we don't speak as we head out the door. I take the keys out for my car getting ready to get into it when Liam takes the keys from my hand.

I growl at him but he just cocks his eyebrow.

I growl again this time with less heat before heading to the passenger side, getting in.

The drive takes less than ten minutes but this time it feels like ten hours. Pulling into her drive I get out not bothering to shut the door. I practically run to her front door before I could knock I smell blood, a lot of it. Not bothering to knock now I brake down the door, racing into the house. What I saw makes me stop short.

Glass litters the floor, from what looks like dishes and bottles, blood seems to paint the room and lying in the middle of it all was Aryn. Liam run around me checking Aryn before reaching to pick her up. I growl at him before going to pick her up. "Mine" I tell him. My wolf wanting to rip his head off for daring to touch what is ours. He backs away his palms toward me before turning and running to the car with me close behind him. In the car, Liam started toward the pack hospital.

I look over my mate, seeing red literally; her blood covers her hair saturating it. Flecks of blood cover her cheek and the side of her mouth. There were hand marks wraping around her neck causing me to vibrate with anger. Liam glances at me before bringing his eyes back to the road.

"Man you got a cool it; I know its hard right now bu-..."

I cut him off. "You know?!? How do you know how I am feeling right now?" I start into Liam. "My mate is beat the hell, covered in blood and I didn't do anything to help her!" I finish, tears threatening to fall.

Liam glances over at me again waiting a bit before speaking. "You didn't know Micah. You couldn't have known." "I should have! I should have known that my mate was in trouble. Was in pain." This time I don't stop the tears from falling. It was Liam, I could trust him. We sit in silence the rest of the way. I hold my mates hand gripping it for all it is worth, preying she doesn't leave me before we can get her help.

Pulling up to the hospital I open the door and sprinted in. Putting Aryn on the first gurney I saw calling for help the entire time. Dr. Kevin Brooks comes running up to me.

"What happened," he asks taking his stethoscope out checking her vitals. "I don't know," I reply, "I found her like this in her house." Brooks nods as he starts to wheel her away, shouting orders to nurses as he moves. "She's my mate." I tell him before he goes through the doors that will separate us.

Brooks looks up surprised before he gets a determined look on his face. "Help her please," I plead with him. Again he nods, "I will do everything in my power." Brooks tells me before the doors swing shut.

*******

I pace the floor near the door, the door that separates me from my mate. I have been waiting for hours, long enough for school to let out, the others joining Liam and I at the hospital. Mady is sitting on Liam's lap keeping him calm, as mates do, Liv doing the same with Tommy, leaving me to pace the floor. When the girls first got here they tried to get me to sit down but I can't. I can't just sit there while my mate is...

Dr. Brooks comes through the doors looking grim. He comes to me putting a hand on my shoulder. "Let me start with she is alive," he begins. I sag. She is alive. "Her condition is not great and I am worried about internal bleeding. But she is alive, hold on to that for now because she is not out of the woods. Not yet," he continues. I freeze, my wolf howls in my head grieving for the pain that our mate has endured, is enduring.

"What happened to her, what are her injuries," Liam asks. I am grateful to him, for asking what I cannot right now. Brooks looks at me worriedly waiting until Liam and Tommy get up to flank me before continuing. "She has a depressed skull fracture, which is worrisome for obvious reasons. I'm guessing her head was hit on something with a lot of force. There are multiple bruises and contusions all over her body, most of it concentrated in her midsection, most likely caused by kicks, this has resulted in some internal bleeding that we are keeping an eye on but we may have to do surgery later. In addition to the bruises she has multiple broken ribs."

My God.

I rub my hand over my face. Brooks isn't done yet, "She has a massive bone bruise on her inner thigh that will impede her walking for a while. Her shoulder is dislocated but has been placed back in its socket. The bruising around her throat and burns on her esophagus which may impact her vocal cords but we will know more when she wakes up," he finally finishes. I look around at my friends, my pack mates, I am sure their faces mirror mine, shock and horror.

So much was done to Aryn my sweet little mate. "When will she wake up?" I manage to ask, fighting my wolf and the urge to tear apart this hospital to find my mate, to make sure she is alive, that she is breathing. Tommy and Liam both grip my arms as if sensing what is going through my head. Brooks shakes his head, "I don't know. I don't know how long she has already been unconscious, due to her skull fracture I am unsure when she may wake up. It could be hours, days, weeks or even months." No, no no nononono. She is in a coma. My mate can't be in a coma, I need her.

I try to go through the doors, to my mate, but I am stop by hands. I snarl at them, they need to let me go. I need to go to her. My wolf rails against my mind, wanting out, wanting the blood of who did this to our mate. I struggle against my wolf and my friends trying to get control. They begin to drag me, away from the doors toward the exit, pulling me along unwillingly. Once outside I shift letting my wolf have control for a while.
