MICAH POV

The sun was setting by the time I got my wolf back under control. I shifted back into my skin, pulling on a pair of shorts, which were laying out for me, once I did. I strode into the hospital determined to lay eyes on my mate. As I am walking in the halls following my mates scent until I was able to find my mates room but before I am able to get to the doorway I am stopped by Tommy with a hand to my chest. "Prepare yourself mate," was all he told me before stepping aside from the door, but still standing guard for his future Alpha Female.

I stood in the door way of my mate's room. Aryn is lying there so still, pale as the sheets she is laying on the only color on the bed was the blue sling her right shoulder was in and the pale green hospital gown that adorned her body. Hooked up to multiple machines the Beep Beep Beep echoing in the room telling me that her heart is beating, not that I couldn't hear that on my own but still reassuring. The blood was washed off from her face which was relatively clear from injuries. Bruising around her throat are the only bruises visible on her skin, I wondered about the other bruises and if they looked as bad as these did. Finally walking into the room to stand next to her bed, I ran my finger down her cheek.

Pulling the chair from the corner next to her bed I gripped her hand in mine rubbing my thump over her hand. I don't know how long I sat in here holding her hand, staring at her, willing her to wake up. Doctors and nurses have been coming in and out checking up on Aryn making sure she was comfortable. Eventually Liam came into the room, I didn't even look up, I knew he was there. I scented him when he was down the hall.

"Bro, we got to talk," Liam starts. I sigh. "So talk." Liam hesitates which causes me to look up at him, before he continues; "maybe we should do it somewhere else." "Why?" I bite out. "The doc found out somethings from the tests they have been running." "Okay?" not seeing why I need to leave. "It's not good man and everyone is worried when you hear you might freak out." He states putting his hands up between us when I jump up. "Not saying you can't control yourself man but it's not good and no one wants to risk you breaking anything Aryn needs. So, please just step out into the hall so the doctor can talk to you. I will stay here with her while you do."

My wolf stills as he talks. This is Liam if it was Tommy, hell anyone else I would have their throats. Liam though Liam is my second he wouldn't tell I needed to leave unless I needed to leave. My wolf and I both know this which is why we are worried. "You promise you will stay here." I ask/order him. He nods his head once. I nod back as I head into the hall. I look back as Liam takes a seat next to my mate; he looks up as I open the door. I suck in a breath as I see the anger burning there. Not at me, not at my mate but at whoever did this to her. I feel the same anger it build the longer I sit there. As I step into the hallway I know one thing when I find who did this to her they are going to die. Slowly. Painfully.

******

A week. Aryn has been sleeping for a week. I growl at anyone who uses the word comma, she is resting after her ordeal. Doc Brooks told us that this incident was probably not an isolated incident. It looks like my mate has been abused which was determined by the x-rays. There were many healed fractures of old breaks shown on the x-rays of her ribs. After seeing this Brooks took more x-rays and found more calluses, which are evidences of previously broken bones. This in addition to bruises on her body that are in various stages of healing Brooks believes that the abuse has been going on for a couple of years at least.

My poor mate going through all that by herself. No wonder she was so secretive. Because of the length of the abuse we were told that it had to be someone who was close to her. Knowing what we know about Aryn is that no one is close to her which leaves just her father as the one who hurt her. Growling I get up from the chair and begin pacing, a habit I developed while waiting for Aryn to wake up. Making my way across the room for the eighth or ninth time I hear a noise coming from the bed. I immediately stop my pacing, whirl toward the bed and see those beautiful grey eyes staring back at me. She's awake.

ARYN POV

I'm swimming in the darkness, struggling to make it to the surface. After what seems like forever I break to the surface. The first thing I become aware of is the incessant beeping, next is the pain. My body hurts all over, father must have really been mad to make me hurt this much. Trying open my eyes feels like I am trying to move an elephant, but that freaking beeping needs to stop. Finally, I force my eyes open, white lights blind me as I groan and immediately shut my eyes. I take a second before trying again, this time my eyes are able to adjust after a minute. I look around taking in my surroundings confused, this isn't my house, where am I?

Before I have a chance to look around Micah comes into my field of vision and overtakes it. He begins to peppers me with questions. "You're awake! How do you feel? Are you in pain? Should I get a doctor? Do you need water?" One after another, not giving me a chance to respond, until my brain is swirling and I place my hands up to try and stop the word vomit. He stops smiling sheepishly before leaning over me, pushing a button on the wall behind me. While he is doing that I have a chance to look around the room I'm in. The walls are white; there is a comfy looking chair next the bed I am in, which is covered in a blue blanket. There are machines spread out in the room some of which are hooked up to me, which explains the annoying beeps.

I'm in a hospital! How the heck did I end up the hospital?!? Last thing that I remember is lying on the floor of my house with blood pooling around me. How did I end up in a hospital? My father wouldn't have called; neither would the neighbors not after that one ...don't think about that girly. I can't be in the hospital father will kill me not only for the attention that it brings but also the bill. Vaguely I hear the beeping going wild as my breathing and heart rate increase with my panic at actually being in the hospital. The world starts to go out of focus as a bunch of strange people stream into my room. They begin shouting things to each other, making movements in the room and toward me. I feel something cool in my veins, as I look to see a man in scrubs injecting something in the IV port before it all goes black.
