They found her in the bathroom at her house. She had swallowed a whole bottle of pills. She was dead.
Her name was Phoebe and she was my best friend.

I woke up that morning feeling like something just wasn't right. But I ignored it and went on with my day. I got up, took a shower, got dressed and went to school.
"Hey Megan!" I heard someone shout when I arrived at school. I turned around and the most popular girl in school was walking towards me.
"Did you hear?"
"Hear what? Ally, I don't have time for this. I have a calculus test in 5 minutes and I need to get to class."
Ally smirked. "Okay, fine. I'll let you figure it out on your own." With that, she walked away.
I rolled my eyes and decided to ignore Ally. Nothing smart ever comes out of that girl's mouth.
I walked to Mr. Harrison's, my calculus teacher's, class and sat down in my seat. Phoebe has this class with me and this is where we usually meet up in the morning.
I still had a few minutes until class started so I got out my calculus textbook and tried to get some last minute knowledge into my brain.
Slowly but surely, the class started to fill up.
No Phoebe.
"Okay class, lets get this test started." Mr. Harrison said. I sighed and put my books away. The bad feeling I had when I woke up, started to creep up on me again.
"Megan, have you seen Phoebe today?" Mr. Harrison asked me as he passed out the test.
"No, I haven't. She might be sick."
Phoebe never missed school. She hated missing school because she hated having to make up work. She had perfect attendance.
That's why it was so weird for her to be gone.
*****
During the calculus test, I couldn't focus. I barely had any answers. The answers I did have, I'm pretty sure were wrong.
That bad feeling that I had this morning, wouldn't disappear.
Why wasn't Phoebe at school? How come she didn't tell me she wasn't going to be here?
I sighed and tried to focus on my test.
The loud speaker in our class room went off while I was answering the 8th question.
"Mr. Harrison?" Said the secretary in a gloomy voice. "Yes?"
"Can you please pick up your phone?"
Mr. Harrison reached across his desk and picked up his phone. He said a few words but they were all mumbled. He looked over at me a few times, his face getting more sad by the minute. By now, everyone in the class was trying to hear the conversation happening.
Mr. Harrison hung up the phone and walked over to me. "Megan, I need you to go to the office. Take your stuff please."
"What about my test?"
"You can finish that some other time. Just.. Go to the office."
Now the first thought that occurs in my head when I'm called to the office is, "What bad things did I do in school for the past week?" When I can't figure anything out, I think, "Am I getting an award?"
I usually laugh myself out of that one. I'm just a normal teenager, with basically no goals as of now. So I go with the most realistic one for me, "I'm getting picked up."
I enter the office and the secretary lady asks, "Megan?"
I nod and she frowns. She gets up from her desk and motions for me to follow her. I enter the pricipal's office and he tells me to sit down.
"Megan, you're Phoebe's best friend right?"
"Yes, sir."
"Has she told you anything? Anything about how she feels lately?"
I thought about it. "No, sir. Will you please explain what is going on?
He pinches the bridge of his nose. By now, I know nothing good is going to come out of this conversation.
"Megan, I don't know how to tell you this, but Phoebe was found this morning."
"Really? I've been looking for her all day. Where was she?" I ask.
"I don't know how to tell you this Megan.."
I frown and brace myself for what's about to come out of his mouth.
"Phoebe was found in her bathroom. Dead."
