It was finally the day of the departure. This week went by really fast and I didn't even realize. Maybe, it's because that Kat and I shopped almost every day this week.
We bought beautiful Indian sarees/lenghas as well as Indian jewelry to compliment the dresses. Honestly, the best part about desi weddings is that you don't have to be related to the bride or the groom in order to dress all out. It's been so long since I've worn Indian clothing. I'm kinda excited to wear it again since I feel like a queen.
We also got our nails done together as well. Although we barely had any time, but on my insistence we did. This is the first time I got my nails done after the birth of my babies. I got a black matte oval shaped acrylics while Kat just went for the simple French manicure on her nails. I used to get French tips all the time before I was pregnant with Aditya and Avantika. This time, I wanted to get something different since now I am a different person compared to who I was before I was pregnant.
Life is very unpredictable though. I never thought that I'd step foot in New York again. I don't know why but I kinda have a good feeling about New York although I don't want to leave Avi and Adi and of course, my loving husband.
I looked at the time on my Michael Kors watch which was 6:10 AM. Our flight is at 8:15 and thank the heavens that Kat slept over here last night so that we can leave for the airport together. This girl still hasn't gotten ready yet, I wonder why she's dressing up so much. I am simply wearing a casual shirt with royal blue skinny jeans along with combat boots. I'm also going to be carrying a jacket just in case, I get cold and to be honest, I get cold really easily.
I went to Avi and Adi's room and saw that they were sound asleep in their cribs. I really wanted to wake them up but I knew that if I did, I definitely won't be able to leave them.
I felt strong hands grab my shoulders as I admired my beautiful children sleep. I turned to my side and saw it's Dave and smiled at him. "Don't worry. They'll be fine," Dave whispered as he released my shoulders.
He went towards the crib and pushed down the handles gently ensuring that the kids won't wake up. "You should at least give them a kiss before you leave." He said in a hushed tone.
I nodded at him and bent down. I pet their beautiful hair and kissed both of them on the forehead. "I'll be back soon," I whispered as I began to tear up.
Dave and I went outside of their room. "No. Don't cry." He said as he noticed my teary eyes. "With me around, they are not even going to miss you one bit," Dave joked as he wiped off my tears. I playfully punched him. "Ouch!" Dave said. "That hurts." He said sarcastically. "Uh-huh." I smiled while nodding at him.
"Shraddha!" I heard Kat yell from downstairs. "Hurry up! The taxi is here." She added.
Wow, she finally got ready. "Alright!" I yelled back as Dave and I headed downstairs. Dave had already brought my luggage down beforehand.
I picked up my Michael Kors handbag and my luggage. Kat was already outside and had put away her belongings in the taxi. Dave and the kids are not accompanying us to the airport because it's already difficult as it is now and if they accompany us, I'll probably cancel my flight then.
God, please let this be an amazing trip. I headed out with Dave and we proceeded towards the taxi.
"Here ma'am. Let me help you." The driver said. "Okay, thank you. " I said as he put away my luggage in the trunk.
"See you in a week." I said to Dave with tears filling up my eyes.
"Shraddha!" Dave yelled in annoyance. "You'll be back in a week and mark my words, you'll be blabbing about how amazing New York is." Dave chuckled as he pulled me close to him wrapping his arms around me. His embrace was warm, and his big, strong arms helped to create the feeling that I'm protected every step of the way.
"Where's my hug bhai?" Kat acknowledged while she also wrapped her arms around us.
"Aww. My girls. Have fun!" Dave said while we all broke out from the hug.
"See you next week bhai." Kat declared as soon as she stepped into the taxi.
"Bye Dave," I said. "Don't have too much fun! Especially, around the kids." I articulated and winked at him while making my way into the car. Dave just smiled at me and then we drove off to the airport.
Once we got there, we dragged our luggage across the sidewalk to enter the airport. We checked ourselves in and grabbed a seat by our gate. I decided to go through my emails just at the moment when my phone dinged indicating that I received a text message. I look at the name and saw that it's from Kat. I looked at her in confusion. "I'm right here," I said to her.
She signaled me to read the message and it said That guy in front of you is checking you out. So glad your acne cleared up just in time! I looked up and witnessed a fair skinned male in a suit passing me a smile while staring at me disgustingly. I shook my head in annoyance "And?" I questioned in a hushed tone while looking at her.
"Fine. I'll check him out for myself." She whispered angrily. I rolled my eyes at her. This girl can never grow up.
After 30 minutes flew by, there was an announcement that "flight 1805 is ready to board". Kat immediately stood up in excitement whereas I felt my heart beat really fast to the point that it might come out of its ribcage. I breathed in and out to calm my nerves. Everything will be alright, I told myself in my head as I got up. We went towards the airport security and gave him our passports and tickets. He checked our passports, scanned our tickets and gestured us to board the flight.
