SPECIAL
[ the longer i look at that word how faker it looks. ]
Don't make your OC too special. If they can do anything they want or have the power over all the elements without even having to struggle. Then you need to stop. Stop for a second.
Is there a reason why they are the best and have all these powers? No? Because most of the time the reason is just because she is special.
A lot of people (myself included) will stop reading if the OC can do literally anything they want. Or if they have a power they can use directly when they doesn't even have to practice. Honestly what do you expect?
That if you ever get powers you can use them in a second. Let's take Wanda and Pietro Maximoff (from the MCU) as example. They got their powers, but Pietro ran against every wall at first. He had pain. Struggled with his speed. It wasn't just an overnight thing.
The same for Wanda. She couldn't lift a car with her mind the second she had her powers. She started of with blocks. It took some time before she was able to do the things you see her do in the movies.
And no, you don't need to write ten chapters about how they managed to overcome their skill or how they got their power or about their struggle. You can reference to it once in a while or have a time skip.
Please, I beg you. Make a character relatable even though they have powers. That's the only thing I'm asking.
