I know this is a hard one and not needed, but it makes your story ten times better. Your readers will keep reading because you keep it excited. They wanna, no, need to know what happens next.

We don't need predictable plot twists or more unnecessary drama. Don't throw in the crazy ex girl or boyfriend or I am pregnant. Those aren't plot twists. You need to prepare your plot twist.

Give little hints before it happens (if that is possible). That if the readers re-read your book, they'll be like how can't I have seen this before.They will applaud for the writer.
