Elizabeth pov
We finally reach the room that Jonah says is mine. "Ok this is your room, my room is the one right next to it on the right." He opens the door and I swim in. It's a simple room with a coral colored oyster shell shaped bed. There's a small dresser off to the side for tops. Above the dresser is a small mirror,I look at myself quickly in the mirror. I'm still wearing my Why Don't We band hoodie and my hair is floating around. I decide to explore the palace since I have nothing else that I could possibly do. As I was swimming around and thinking about how I could be suffering in a personal hell but instead I'm swimming around as a mermaid and got to meet a king. As I'm swimming I bump into someone. "Who the hell are you and what are you doing in the palace!" I hear a voice I haven't heard in 4 years. I look up and see Joe,only he doesn't recognize me and continues to shout at me for accidentally bumping into him. I stay silent the entire time and just look at the ground. "Joe stop yelling at the little thing." I'm pulled behind someone. "Joe this is Elizabeth Bratton." Joe shuts up and seems stunned for a moment. "Lizzy??" "Yes Joe" I say quietly. Joe pulls me into a hug and not knowing what to do since it's been so long I let my arms hang limply by my side,and make no move to hug him back. I'm pulled into a warm chest and look up to see Jonah,he just smiles then puts his chin at the top of my head. " Elizabeth?" "Yes Jonah?" "Can we you excuse Joe and I for a bit, we need to take care of some things." I just smile and nod as they swim off then head back to my room to take a nap.
Joe pov
I was heading to Jonahs room to discuss the new mers that have been coming when I bump into a small body. I immediately start to yell at the little thing who keeps her head down. Jonah sees the little thing and me and immediately starts yelling at me after he puts her behind him. He says her name and immediately feel horrible for yelling to at her, and after realizing that it's my little sister Lizzy I hug her but she doesn't hug me back. As we are walking to Jonahs office I see him sneak one more look at Lizzy.
