Alright, so I haven't written a fic in a long time. A very very very long time. For the last couple of days I started reading and I wanted to create something, and I felt the urge to do it. And those last couple days I haven't had time, but finally today, I get the chance. So, let's see where the hell this takes me. And if this feels different, that's because I'm older and I write a lot differently now. The word 'fuck' won't be in every other phrase, I have a better vocabulary, or so it seems to be that way. I will try my best to write and get out chapters as quickly as I can, but I'm not making any promises. I have school and work and a lot of other things I think about doing the day and writing is something I get to do if I get the chance. If I end up not finishing this, I am really really sorry. Being completely honest that is my goal, and I'll probably have the first couple chapters done soon. But let's see. Okay, I'm going on and on. I will shut up and now let's get to the story. You want to hear it still after I said all of this, right?
Also, I like going from first person to third person a lot, and I'll definitely mention it or have it in italics when it comes up, but I hope that's fine.
___
"You sure this is going to be okay?"
The two of us were walking side-by-side, holding hands as the cloudy sky covered our city. This city-or small town perhaps, wasn't the right fit for either of us. We had just walked along to the edge of it and we didn't know where they exactly were heading. All that was mentioned before her and I started walking was that we were going away for a while. This was my plan and she had agreed, but she never said if she was completely okay with this. The thought of her missing her family was chiseled into my skull.
"Yeah, I left a note. They will be fine without me." Her soft voice calmed me. She always spoke in her kind voice, the one she uses when she speaks her mind fluently.
She tightened the grip on my hand a little, feeling an emotion go through her-I paused and stopped us from walking out of town.
"Do we need to turn back around? I mean if you can't handle it-."
She turned to face me, eyes wide. "Bert, I am going to be fine, just I'm a little nervous." She sighed, "I will be fine. Let's just keep walking and get there. Like you said, you wanted to get there early, as in right before sunset."
I nodded and we kept walking, hand-in-hand. We walked along the country, and kept going. I wanted to head to the Canyon, it was a special place to me and I was supposed to be meeting a few friends up there. And I wanted to get there before they arrived, because there was something breathtaking about it and I didn't want my friends getting in the way of something special.
The one I was holding hands with was my girlfriend, her name was Luca. People made fun of her for it because it sounded like guys name, but she didn't let it get to her. She had dark brown hair when I first met her and now it was a fiery red, kind of like her personality. I had first met her a couple months back during a concert my friends and I had went to. I still remember that day.
Bert daydreamed on while the two were walking, not hearing any of what Luca was talking about and just going back to that day when they had met. She remembered it as well, and she wished that it would replay in her mind, but that night also had caused her trouble.
I pointed at the place in front of us. It was beautiful and filled my head with moments of my childhood, something that I didn't think of often, due to it being hard for me to think of without thinking of the bad times, but this, this was something greater than anything else in my mind.
"This is breathtaking." Luca said, looking as the sunset was beginning to fall over the horizon. "Just, wow." She stopped and stepped forward to take it all in. I stepped further and looked down below at the cavernous walls. The river that used to flow carved perfection.
"This is what I wanted you to see. I want you to remember this Luca. I think about it all the time and coming back just feels like home."
We both stood and gazed, sitting down after a while and waiting for my friends to finally show up. They were running late by now. But I was glad they were late-I loved Luca's reaction. She was overwhelmed by the beauty and she was so beautiful sitting with me, her red hair blended in with the rocks and it looked brighter. It was a magical feeling.
I heard footsteps coming from behind me, Luca pointed over my shoulder. "Are those your friends you were talking about?"
I turned around and there was Jeph and Quinn, both smirking at me.
"This place is really nice if you want sex tonight."
"Shut up Jeph." I said, "this is Luca, the girl I kept telling you guys about." She smiled and waved at the two. I don't think she exactly heard what Jeph said, but she was staring at me kinda pissed, so I think she may have.
Luca stood up, "so, where are we going?"
Quinn spoke up, and I could definitely tell that he wanted to get back quickly. "Just to my house after I drop off Jeph, he just wanted to go with us so he could meet her." He point at the scrawny girl that I was hugging.
"She has a name." I said.
"It's Luca." She and I spoke at the same time.
Quinn turned around and started walking, then stopped when no one walked with him.
"Are you guys coming?"
We all hurried and ran to the car. Luca took the passenger seat and I sat in the back with Jepha. He leaned over to me and whispered. "Where the hell did you find her?"
And that's when I told the story.
