"Months later, and now we're here." I said to Jeph, who was pretending to be asleep. I nudged his arm and he jolted awake.
"That was the most boring love story I've ever heard. Come on Quinn, drive faster! I wanna go home!" He kicked his legs against Luca's seat, pretending to cry like a small child.
"You forgot about the rest of that night." Luca smirked at me from her seat. I cowered down in mine, blushing heavily.
Jeph turned his head to me and stopped kicking her chair. "What? Seriously? You really suck at telling the good stuff."
"Shut up. It was personal." I say, hiding my face a little. I knew Luca didn't care and would say something to them eventually. I put my finger up to my lips to tell her to not say anything. She ignored me.
"It was personal for both of us, but you don't really have to keep it a secret. " She scooted and turn around to see Jeph, "I snuck in his room at one a.m. and we had sex." She turned around after I saw her face had become like her hair.
"Enough with the talking about having sex." Quinn stopped the car. He unlocked Jeph's door, "You can go now, see you later."
"Bye guys." He got out of the car and waved, running up to his house. He was greeted by his girlfriend and their two dogs. I shut the door and Quinn drove off to his place. It was a couple blocks away and felt like hell to walk to. I did it all the time when I had stayed with Quinn previously.
We pulled up to the house and Quinn left first. He went inside while I sat still buckled in with Luca facing me now. She hopped in the back and sat close to me. "Thank you for taking me away from my family, and everything. I need this. A fresh start." She held my hand close like before.
"You're welcome-."
I heard the door open. "Don't fuck in my car!" Quinn yelled as loud as he could. We both got out, and I still hadn't finished my sentence. "Good job guys, I caught you." He smirked.
"We were just talking." Luca said as Quinn walked inside. We followed into his home. I had been here a million times before, it was nothing special, just a house with 2 bedrooms and and nice kitchen and bathroom. Luca seemed amazed as we walked through. "How could you afford this?"
"My parents bought it and then got a different house, as long as I pay for some stuff, they cover the rest." Quinn sat down on the couch. I could tell everything his parents had bought and the stuff he bought himself. The line between the two was very wide. The couch was a normal blue one with flower decal on it, and then if you looked over to the table, there was a lamp that was decked out with band stickers.
"We sleeping upstairs by the bathroom?" I asked. I knew that his room wasn't up for grabs, but I was checking that he didn't have some other guy sleeping in the guest bed.
Quinn nodded, shaking his blonde hair a little. "Yeah of course, did you bring any of your shit with you?"
"Yeah, we brought our backpacks and loaded them as full as we could." I took mine off, I didn't own much, but Luca definitely did. She took her off and unzipped it. The bag looked as if it had a million things piled in it.
"I stored as much stuff as I could."
"We both can tell." A book fell out of the bag as she zipped it back up. It was 1984, one of my favorites.
She headed up the stairs. "I'm going to go unload this."
Quinn came over to me. "She really seems to be like you."
Luca's POV
"She really seems to be like you." I heard Quinn say as I passed up the stairs. I shrugged and went up, I had already found the room, I had just wanted to listen in a little more.
"I hope she isn't into that shit-"
"Shut up." Bert said, looking up the stairs, not seeing me. "I don't want to talk about it. She doesn't need to know, besides, I'm off that shit like you wanted me to be."
"Yes, I know, I just hope she isn't into that. She'll fuck you up like Kate."
"Don't say her name." I felt a pang of hurt in Bert's voice.
"Alright, I'll be quiet. Let me go see if Luca is okay." I heard Quinn's footsteps, so I ran unto the room, unzipped my bag, and quickly pretended to take things out.
Quinn stopped in the door way. I hadn't gotten a good glance at him until now. Blonde hair and brownish eyes. He seemed to be really good friends with Bert, knowing about whatever it was they were talking about. I had only known Bert for 3 months, and with my state, everything was a bit hazy. But I loved him, and whatever they were talking about downstairs I'd still love him. All I wanted to know was: who the hell is Kate?
"You good?" He asked, watching me pull shirts from the bag.
"Yeah," I hung up a shirt. "I'm doing okay."
"I was just checking, Bert's gonna bring his stuff up here and then we're gonna just hang out for the rest of the night."
"Okay, cool I guess." I really didn't care, I just wanted to know what was going on from what they were talking about.
Bert came upstairs, grabbing me by the waist and pulling me close. Quinn had left and went to his room. Bert was smiling, his pupils had grown double in size. "You finally ready to have a new life and say goodbye to everything else?" He kissed my forehead, spinning me around and now I faced him.
"Yes love." I smiled and he pulled me into a hug. "I am gonna miss everything though. But I'm here now, and now is better than the past."
We unpacked and went downstairs, Quinn had on a show that I didn't recognize. Bert definitely did and he was hooked.
"Guys?" I asked and they both were glued to the T.V. "I'm gonna lay down." I got up and walked upstairs and into my room. It felt more like mine because Bert had barely anything laid out. I sat down on the bed and took a breath, it still hadn't occurred to me that I wasn't home. I was in my new home, with new family. I thought about everything and the last thought I had before I went to bed was:
Who is Kate?
