He Said He'd Take You Home

The intro of Supersonic made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. The song wasn't new to me, but in my other life I hadn't been old enough to see Oasis on stage. And here they were, wearing masks and jackets, their attempt to fit in with the prom dress. I made a move forward, but Ben held my arm. 

"Eve, dont." He was begging me with his eyes. But I ignored him. The crowd was gaining in size. Girls pushed to the front, forgetting about their dresses and their dates. The Harrow boys stood at the back of the mob looking slightly miffed. Liam began singing and the girls screamed, jumping in the air. I was trampled on from all directions, and even though I pushed, was far from the front of the stage. 

I jumped to peer over the corwd. I only ever caught glimpes of Noel but I could tell he was searching the masked crowd for me. 

"Noel!" But my shouts were just whispers in the sea of noise. Growing fustrated, I elbowed more and the people shifted a little. I continued with this new way of moving forwards. It was towards the end of Supersonic when I arrived at the bang centre of the front, right below Liam. This time I waved my arms, Noel's masked face furned and looked at me. He removed his hands from his guitar to point to me and lifted his mask. Getting what he was asking, I removed my mask, pushing it onto my hair at the moment the song ended. He nodded and moved to the mic.  

"Alright lads. Heres a song for the girl who brought us here. She's amazing and a real treat to look at. And I Forgive her... for making me crazy about her. So here's Slide Away." And I knew then what he meant about forgiveness. The song issue was over. I screamed with the crowd as the guitar started up once more. Liam began singing, arms tucked behind his back. I lent against the edge of the stage, taking in the atmosphere and music. 

"Slide away, you gotta give it all you got 

My today just fell in from the top 

I dream of you  

And all the things you say 

I wonder where you are now." Liam noticed me and pulled me up onto the stage. I yanked my mask over my face once more. 

"Slide in baby, together we'll fly. 

Wild fire baby, you dont know what your doing to me." He span me under his arm and passed me to Noel, who smiled and sang along with the chorus.  

"Now that your mine 

We'll find a way 

Of chasing the sun 

Let me be the one 

Who shines with you 

In the morning we dont know what to do." I laughed as he danced badly to the music. 

"Hold me tight when all the worlds asleep 

I need you now, you knock me off my feet. 

I dream of you 

We talk of growing old 

Baby tell me please dont." Noel leaned into my ear and spoke, unheared and unnoticed by anyone but me. 

"Its 'bout you, you know?" As he leaned back, still playing I looked him in his green blue eyes. His mask only covered half of his face so I saw him smile one of his rare sweet smiles. Then he sand again.  

"Now that your mine 

We'll find a way

and we can slide away." I grabbed the mic 

"Slide away!" Noel took it back. 

"Slide away!" Then together 

"Slide away." Liam took over singing again and I looked out into the audience that he had under his spell so well. The Harrow boys seemed to realise that the northerners weren't going to steal their dates and were dancing wildly too with the girls. The elaborate buns had fell down over their faces and they held their dresses as the raved. Even the teachers who stood near the drinks table seemed to be enjoying theirselves. Everyone was celebrating the end of school. Everyone, except Ben, who stood at the back door glaring at the stage. I felt bad, but was happy to be on speaking terms with Noel again. Ben shook his head and turned away out of the hall. Now I felt awful. After all he had done for me. Put up with the photos, not question my monging at the discovery of who he was, listened to my rabbitting on about nothing in the drive here, actually took me to prom in the first place when no one else would've and here I was, ditching him at the first sight of Noel. A man who had ditched me in the first place to go on tour without a single explination or turn of the head.It didnt seem right.  

"Noel, thank you so much for coming! Its been amazing! Ive just got to go fix something. Ill see you after your set." As he was in the middle of singing Bring It On Down, he just nodded and I went back stage, hoping to stop Ben in the corridor. I lifted my dress to make sure I wouldnt stand on it as I ran. I was back in the enterance hall when I noticed a figure waiting at the door. He was leaning against the frame, but stood up when he heard the sound of footprints. Turning I saw it was Ben, who didnt look happy to see me.  

"Ben. Im sorry." He just looked at me, expressionless. "I really am. I dont know what happened. Ill do anything to make it up to you?" At this he raised his eyebrows.  

"Anything?"  

"Anything." He took a step closer. We were there again, for the third time that night. Millimetres away from lip contact. And this time I wasnt going to miss my oppertunity. I wrapped my arms around his neck and snogged him. It was perfect, like everything you could imagine and more. There was a faint smoky taste to him and he lifted me up a little off my tiptoes that I had to stand on to reach him. His hands were in my curls and he twisted them around his fingers. My head band fell out a little but I caught it and placed it back on just as we pulled back. 

"You do realise that I forgave you before that? You can take it back if you want." I smiled. 

"As if!" And we were kissing again right up until the cars began arriving and people left. Right up until the driver of our car said that if we didnt stop he'd be off with out us. Right up until the band came out, cheering and slapping each others backs. I pulled away and looked around. Noel was grinning from ear to ear. Ben was happy too, so happy he didnt even mind when I let go of him to run and hug Noel. 

"You were amazing! These months of touring definitly paid off!" He hugged me back, head in my shoulder. 

"Go on sweetie. Its time you and Mr Darcy over there got off home. Where's your car?" I looked. True to his word, the driver had gone off with out us. Me and Ben had a long walk home. I said good bye to Noel and the rest of Oasis and set off with Ben holding my hand. The end to a perfect night.
