When we say the new music scene has captured the imagination of all you teens up and down the nation, we really mean it. The swarm of new albums have made 1994 possibly the best year of the decade so far. Every one is talking about Oasis, who’s debut album Definitely Maybe was the fastest selling ever, and who are these interesting Gallagher bros? Well, here are OUTBREAK we have found a way to discover the truth. Meet Evelyn and The Nights, a girl lead indie rock back from London. Not only are they also on the same record label as Oasis, but Noel Gallagher has penned a few songs for their album. Today, we meet up with Evelyn, Vocals, and Lizzie, Bass, to talk break through, love life and the promising new single that will undoubtedly be playing none stop on the radio in the very near future.
So, how do you feel after your very first photo-shoot?
L: Amazing, I always knew I had a face for the camera.
E: More like for radio *Laughs*
L: *Smirks* Well, that’s rude.
It seems like the girls of the band have a interesting relationship with each other, but what about the other members of the band?
E: I love the guys. Zack, he’s the ginger one on drums, he is one of the funniest people I know. Honestly, he is amazing.
L: Yeah, I love him. But he is the one farting into a bottle when he’s p**sed at a party.
E: He’s going to love you for saying that.
L: Bring it.
E: *laughs* Jason is great as well. He’s just so cool . He reminds me of the English Kurt Cobain, but no one can replace old Kurt. Jason could easily make it solo.
L: But he’s not allowed to. We’re keeping him forever!
So, girlies. The big question is; men. Who are you looking at?
E: Johnny Depp.
L: Kurt Cobain, I know.
E: Ooh, good choice.
L: You too.
E: But, if you mean people we know, well that’s a secret.
L: Well, mines not. I’m married. To a guy called Arthur.
E: Arthur’s great. We asked him to come up with the album artwork, so if you like that, it’s him *Smiles*
So Lizzie and Eve seem to have all things in order for the release of their album, Shifting Sights this month. The first single will be released soon, correct?
E: Yeah. Next week. I think a few of the radio stations are playing it, so stay tuned folks!
L: I’m really looking forward to it.
It’s called Street Show, correct? And what’s the message from the single?
E: The message? Well, it’s about a man who works all day playing his fingers bare on the guitar and getting hardly any appreciation, so it’s not a anecdote from my life. I think it’s mainly about the amount of music out there that no one seems to find, and these artist truly deserve it.
L: The hidden talents of generations
E: Wow, Liz, that’s deep. It came out on an idea I had with Noel [Gallagher] when we were jamming at Creation. Obviously, I came up with all the genius, unless people think it’s crap, then it was all him!
Will we be hearing any collaborations with the Oasis gang and Evelyn and The Nights, by the way what do we call you for short?
L: The Nights.
E: Yeah, Nights.
L: The thing about the collaborations is a topic that has been suggest quite a lot actually, which I find quite strange really.
E: *Nods* Yeah, I mean Oasis and the Nights have a similar style, but I think we might have a slightly different audience, being female lead and all. I would really be up for it though. We played a couple of shows with Noel before, but I would love to provide backing vocals for Liam. His voice is stellar. Honestly, it’s so amazing.
We agree. Any last comments?
L: No curries on first dates?
E: Always take a banana to a party.
And on that we leave.
Evelyn and The Nights new album, Shifting Sights, is out May 23rd
Their single, Street Show, will be out on the 12th.
