Ch11

Bella awoke the next morning to a loud thump. She looked around, her room was pitch black which meant it was still dark outside. She looked over at her clock, 3 am it said. She heard the creak in the floor boards in her living room. Someone was in her house.

She slowly and cautiously opened her nightstand drawer and took the gun from its place. She got up, careful not to make any sound. She crossed to the door of her room and listened closely. There was shuffling of papers and soft whispers. There were two. Two men.

Where were they? She listened closely and heard the jiggle of her filing cabinet. Filing cabinet, they were in her office where all of her top secret files were kept. She eased out of the room with her gun aimed. She entered the room without disturbing them.

"It has to be in here!"

"Can I help you boys find something?"

 They turned around.

"Don't move, or I’ll blow your heads off!" she demanded as they froze

"Put your weapons on the ground and slide them to me…now!!"

Just as the two pulled out their guns, everything went black for Bella.

Bella had a hard time focusing as her eyes fluttered open. Her head throbbed and her body ached. She saw the small cracks in the cement walls that emitted light. The only noise she heard was the faint chirping of a bird.

"Where am I?" She wondered. She stood up and lights flickered on. Motion sensors. She looked around the small white room and saw a blood stain on the pillow her head laid on. She slowly placed her hand on the back of her skull and felt the goop on her fingers. She sat back down as the room began to spin. She was hit pretty hard.

She rubbed her eyes trying to rack her brain of what happened. She woke up in the middle of the night, caught two guys raiding her files, and then someone came from behind and knocked her out. What else happened? She knew she must've woken up at some point, before they locked her up. Perhaps a clue as to where she was.

Suddenly the door opened. She stood up and narrowed her eyes at the man in the suit. "Where am I?" She questioned.

"That's not important, what is important is that you tell me where you took the elixir!"

"I don't know what you're talking about." She said simply.

"Perhaps this will jog your memory." He rolled in a TV and turned it on, pressing play on the video. She saw the video of her leaving with the elixir in Paris.

"So unless you have some identical twin sister with a big secret, you'll tell me where you took it!"

Bella gave him a hard look. She left it in the hotel and what Luke did with it afterwards was beyond her knowledge, but she knew it was in a vault in headquarters. But Bella would never betray her people. She crossed her arms.

"Go ahead, if you're gonna kill me, do it now. But I'm not telling you anything." She said, matter-of-factly.

The man's lips began to curl, greasy strands of his floppy hair falling into his eyes that were lined with dark circles. It was clear he hadn't slept in days. He was weak to her. He was the leader, but the weak link.

"So, seeing as how I may be here a while, what should I call you? Deranged psychopath, deranged, or just psychopath?"

His eyes narrowed at her. "You're the prisoner here Ms. White. Not me, remember that. And if you know what's good for you you'll cooperate fully."

She stepped closer to him but he didn't move. Good, she thought. That meant she could get in his face.

She stepped close to him, her eyes locked on his cold lifeless gray eyes. She spoke low, never taking her eyes from his.

"You have no idea who you're dealing with mister…But you're about to find out." She then took a step back and leaned against the wall with her arms folded.

"Oh I think we do." He held out his hand and a file was placed in his hand. "Bella White, 25 years old, joined the CIA when you were barely the legal drinking age, wanted to become a theatre major, but changed your mind when you realized you wanted to save lives. You have the highest case clearance percentage, and have killed your fair share of bad guys." He was about to continue when she stopped him.

"All you have is a file about my background. Nothing about what I'm capable of."

"We'll see." He was about to walk out when Bella stopped him.

"I do have a quick question though…if you know who I work for, wouldn't you go to the source if you're looking for your precious elixir?"

He gave her a small smirk.

The pieces suddenly pieced together. They attacked headquarters. The rage built up suddenly in her veins as worry for her friends kicked in. Were they okay? Were they alive? How many agents were killed or wounded?! In a blur she slammed the man against the wall.

"Listen here dirtbag!" She growled at him through clenched teeth. "You just woke the dragon. I don't have your stupid toxin and I don't know where it is, but I do know that if any of my friends are hurt or dead, you're the first person I’ll come for."

He only smirked as his body guard pulled her off of him. He fell to the floor, standing upright on his feet. He smirked as he watched her struggle but his smirk fell when she saw the small girl in front of him flip a 300 pound man over her shoulder and onto the ground.

Bella snatched the gun from his holster and aimed it at him. "Release me, or I’ll pull this trigger, put a bullet in your brain, and show myself the way out."

The coward he was shook at his knees, but he didn't move. She pulled the hammer down and stepped closer to him, pressing the barrel to his skull. "Who did you kill? …answer me!!!" She shouted in his ear and he coward away. She grabbed his ear. "I'll only ask you once more! Who did you kill, who did you hurt?!" He was silent. "1." She began to count. "2. Don't let me get to 3…3" her finger curled around the trigger, just as she was about to pull it the lights went out and gas emitted through the vents. Both Bella and her captor fell to the floor unconscious.
