Ch13
It was Friday morning, 10 am, and in a matter of two hours, Bella’s best friend would be getting married. Why did she promise to go? She knew it would be torture for her. She even thought about un-sending her RSVP and Adam was cool with it, but Blakely had surprised her, again, and forced her to go.
“If I have to go, so do you!” She said as she searched through Bella’s closet. “You have absolutely no clothes!”
“I do too!” She defended.
“Well none nice, or appropriate enough for a wedding!”
“Ladies!” Travis said from the living room as he checked his watch. “We have 30 minutes before we have to be there! I’m not missing my baby brother’s wedding! Now hurry up!” He demanded. He wore a gray suit with a light blue shirt and no tie. Adam was sitting on the couch, fiddling with a stack of cards. He wore a black suit with a red undershirt and a black tie.
“Well! Looks like I’m not going, since I have nothing to wear!” Bella said over dramatically, with the back of her hand on her forehead, showing despair and disappointment.
“No wonder you didn’t get your theatre major, you’re not that good.” Blakely teased.
Bella scoffed as she pulled out a simple peach colored, knee length dress.
“Perfect!” She chimed.
“Take it back!” Bella demanded.
“Take what back?” Blakely asked innocently, but suddenly Bella tackled her to the ground. “OW!” She shrieked. “Bella get off!”
“Take it back!” She shouted as she pushed on her sister’s face with her hand. Suddenly Adam lifted her up from Blakely as Travis helped her up.
“Really Bella, come on! You’re a grown woman, you can’t solve everything with a fist!”
Bella rolled her eyes.
“Look, we’re gonna be late. Put on that dress, find some shoes, and let’s go!” Travis demanded as he and Adam walked out.
Bella walked through the foyer of the church and admired the beauty of the flower placements. She looked around and saw Nick in the corner.
He motioned for her to come forward. As she stepped closer she could tell something was wrong by the worry in his face.
“What’s wrong?” She asked.
“You’re not the bride.” He said with his eyebrows raised. She rolled her eyes.
“Look, he’s in love with her, and I have to except it.”
“He doesn’t love her, he just thinks he does…why don’t you go talk to him?”
“I don’t think that’s a good idea.”
“Just go, he wants to see you.”
She let out a sigh and nodded reluctantly. He escorted her to the dressing room and let her in. Luke turned. He was wearing the usual black and white tux, but he looked as handsome as ever. His dark hair usually gelled up was smooth and slick, his blue eyes shining.
“Hey Bella.” He said, his eyes glued to her. He was afraid if he blinked, she would disappear.
“So today’s the big day,” she began. “You’ll be married soon.” She tried to smile, but was sure she looked pathetic.
