Ch15

Luke walked Bella up to the steps of her front door.

“I don’t want to say Goodnight!” He groaned as he pulled her into him for a tight hug.

“I don’t either, but I’ll see you tomorrow.” She giggled softly, adoring the way he was pouting.

“It’s not fair. Why does there only have to be 24 hours in a day?”

She smiled and shook her head. “I should get inside. Blakely and Travis are probably worried about me.”

“You’re 25, they know you can handle yourself.”

She smiled and lowered her forehead to rest it on his neck. “But you know how Blakely is. She’ll stay up all night for me. And it’s already 1 am. She’s probably exhausted.”

He let out a sigh. “Is that Adam guy still here?”

She let out a laugh, sensing the jealousy in his voice. “No, he left after the wedding. Don’t worry, it’s just me, Blakely, and Travis.”

“Why does he get to stay and not me?”

“Are you jealous of your brother too?”

“Only because he gets to spend more time with you.”

She pulled her head back and smiled at him. “But he doesn’t get to hug and kiss me now does he?”

He smirked softly and laid his forehead on hers. “I guess not.” He let out a sigh.

“What?” She asked, her hands resting on his biceps.

“Today was incredible…I don’t want it to end.”

“Yeah, it was…but you know what, the sooner you get off my porch the sooner we’ll have another incredible day.”

He chuckled. “Fine. I’ll see you tomorrow. Goodnight.”

“Goodnight.” She whispered back before he placed his lips on hers. He tore his lips away, regretting it then rushed back to his truck, knowing he would linger longer if he had stayed another moment.

She smiled and walked inside and dropped her keys in the bowl by the door and went to the kitchen, ignoring the mess in her living room. She grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge then stood up abruptly, hitting the back of her head on the top of the cooler. She yelped as her head was still tender from the night she was abducted. She backed away and looked around her trashed living room.

"Blakely?!" She yelled out. "Travis?!" There was no response. She slowly pulled out the gun from her pot holder drawer and crept into the living room.

"Blakely?! You home!? If this is a joke come out, it's not funny!!" She looked around, noticing spots of blood on the couch cushions. She followed the blood trail, her heart racing. Behind the love seat, on the ground unconscious, Travis bled from his back. She dropped her gun in shock of the sight. In his hand was the phone. "Travis?!" She screamed as the tears began to fill her eyes. "Travis, wake up!! Travis!!" She yanked the phone from his loose grip, dialing 911, but the line was disconnected. Even if he tried to call for help, he wasn't able to. She pulled her phone out and called the police as she placed her fingers on his neck.

There was no pulse.
