Kylies POV
I couldn’t believe that he showed me that, I wondered the moment I saw it what had happened. He did really tell me about it but he looked like it was painful when he winced. I felt really bad for him and I was determined to get the whole story out of him when we hung out. Were his parents really that strict? What had he done to get his body in that rough of shape? That’s all I could think of for the rest of the night.
I don’t know what I was going to do for the rest of the weekend, I wasn’t really planning on doing anything anyway but I felt like I needed to do something because when I woke up the next day it was already one in the afternoon. “You’ve got to be kidding me.” I sighed and got out of bed. Walking down the stairs I could hear my mom and dad talking quietly; which was surprising for them because they were always fighting or completely silent. I wondered where Kenz was at, I knew she didn’t really make any friends at school the first few days so I don’t think she was with anyone. “Mom, where is Mackenzie?” I asked as I got to the kitchen. I saw my dad give me a weird look, probably because I don’t usually sleep this late. Instead of my mom answering my question my dad intervened and answered for her as if she was incapable of answering. “She went out, I don’t know where though. She said she would be back later.” “When did she leave?”
“About three hours ago.”
“You didn’t ask where she was going?” I asked getting a little nervous. She had been gone a long time and hadn’t called me or my dad. He shook his head and went back to what he and my mom were talking about before. I hurried upstairs to get dressed so I could go look for her.
I got in my car and was driving down the block when I saw Matt walking. “Matt!” I yelled out my window slowing down to a stop next to him. He looked up and looked confused for a second trying to comprehend who was calling his name. “Hey, have you seen my little sister around lately?” my voice was wavered. He shook his head and walked up to my car, “Why, is everything okay?” “I’m not sure, my dad told me she left a few hours ago and she still isn’t home. She hasn’t called me at all and I am really worried about her.” His gaze looked really sad for some reason and I could tell he was sincerely concerned. “Can I help you look for her?” he asked. I nodded and unlocked my door, he got in quickly and I drove off before he could get his seat belt on.
“Do you have any idea where she might be?” he asked. I shook my head keeping my eyes on the road and my surroundings waiting to see a little girl walking alone. She could be anywhere, someone could have kidnapped her and she could be gone forever. “That little girl is all I have left anymore.” I said. After I said it I realized I had said it out loud and looked quickly toward Matt. “I didn’t mean to say that out loud.” He just looked at me trying to read my emotions. “Everything is going to be fine, we’ll find her.” After that he didn’t say anything else, he just focused on everything on his side. He was the one who broke the silence, “Do you know where she might be?” I shook my head, “You asked that already.” I said, getting frustrated. “Oh, yeah. Sorry I’m just trying to think of where she could be. Does she have any new friends, someone she might be hanging out with?” I considered it but pushed it out of my mind instantly because I remember her telling me she didn’t make any friends. Although I hadn’t asked her again after the second day so she might have. “Ugh!” this is what I get for getting caught up in a boy, I lose my sister! “She hasn’t told me anything about meeting new people.” I said finally.
I thought about that time when she almost killed herself trying to see Lewis again and I wondered if that’s what is happening. My heart started racing, I couldn’t take that! Why did this have to happen?! It was so stressful and I just didn’t want to deal with it.
