Kylies POV
I couldn’t believe that just happened; I mean it was amazing and I really like him but I’m not sure if I should let him in. Then again after what I just told him and his reaction, it might work out pretty well. Mid thought, my brain forgot about all that and went back to Mackenzie. Crap! I sped home the last, half mile or so and whipped into my driveway. “Mom, did Kenzie come home?!” I yelled nowhere in particular. “Yes, she came home a few hours ago.” I stopped where I was. Why didn’t she call me when she came home, she seen how upset I was. “Why didn’t you tell me?” I yelled back. “Thought you knew.” Was all she said and I knew if I kept bugging her she wouldn’t answer back. So I ran up to Mackenzie’s room to check on her. “Mack, are you okay, where did you go today?” I asked. She was sitting at her desk writing something in a piece of paper.
“I’m fine, I just went for a walk.” I walked in and sat on her bed. “You were gone for a long time. I was so worried about you.” She didn’t answer. “Hey, what’s wrong?” I got up and put my hand on her back. She jerked away so I wasn’t touching her anymore. “Mackenzie.” I almost yelled at her, but she didn’t respond so I decided to leave her alone and maybe she would tell me later. So I went to my room to think about the day and its events.
I felt kind bad I just attacked Matt like that but then again he seemed to be fine with it so I ignored that. Then I remembered it was Monday tomorrow and we all had to go back to school. Was it going to be any different between us? I hoped it wouldn’t; I hated awkward situations and I always seemed to end up in them. My mind went back to when I was crying in my car. Would he look at me any different because of it? Would he treat me like some charity case; pity me? I hate when people pity my family; it gets me so mad. I knew i had to confront him about it later, when though; tomorrow? I should just ride it out and see how he acts first; I didn’t want to falsely accuse him of anything.
By the time I ran out of things to think about I realized it was already really late and I hadn’t started any of my homework. I sighed, “I’ll just do it in the morning.” I got up to put my pajamas on and brush my teeth and not twenty minutes later was out like a light.
MATTS POV
“Get up right now, Matthew!” I jumped, startled from the sudden sound of my dad yelling. I had sort of awake for the past hour, dozing in and out here and there. “Coming sir!” rushing to put some clothes on, not caring weather they matched or not and ran out into the living room. I looked around and there was beer cans all around the room; on the coffee table, television stand, the floor. I knew in an instant this wasn’t going to end well. My father was standing right next to the couch in between the kitchen doorway and the entrance “Did you need something Sir?” I asked quietly. “Come here.” He demanded. I slowly approached him fearing what was coming next. I knew I was tough but not as tough as my father, no one was tougher than my father.
“I’m going to be gone for a day or two on business, if I find out that you do anything you shouldn’t be doing, I will punish you. Understand?” He asked in that scary tone I hate so much. Knowing I probably shouldn’t say anything else all I said was, “Yes sir.” He pushed past me, almost knocking me over and went straight to his room. Right when he was about to slam his door he finally said, “Your mother will be coming with me, so you’re on your own for supper those few days.” And I said once again, “Yes sir.” I heard the door slam and I knew I was off the hook, thanking the Lord that it wasn’t worse than that. I ran to my room and grabbed my back pack already late for school.
Kylies POV
I woke up early this morning and couldn’t go back to sleep. So I just got up and got dressed for the day. I decided to look somewhat cute so I put on some skinny jeans and a flowery shirt with some leg warmers and boots. It seemed like a little much coming from Texas but it looked cute and I just went with it. “Mackenzie, let’s go. Time for school!” I yelled down the hallway toward her room. She didn’t answer nor did she come out of the room. “Mackenzie!” I quickly walked to her room to get her. I got so into my outfit and hair I didn’t realize how late it was getting. I opened her door and looked around, she wasn’t there. “Where does she go all this time?” I asked myself. I ran downstairs to get something to eat for lunch, she wasn’t there either. “Mackenzie!” I almost screamed through the house. She wasn’t anywhere to be found. “Stop screaming! I’m right here!” she yelled form upstairs. I looked toward the stairs and sure enough there she was, walking down the stairs. “Let’s go.” She said in a voice that made her seem like she was bored. I ignored it and followed her to the car; and in complete silence, headed for school.
