Chapter Description: Marth is very talkative, sometimes at the price of his two comrades...

NOTE: This takes place directly after SSE, when they first arrive at the manor.

"Woah... Ike..."

"This place is HUGE, guys!"

"Hm." As we walked into the manor, the sparkling grand staircase swirled in front of us. It was made from a dark wood, golden railings on both sides, and stretched to three upper levels that I assumed were the rooms. An open doorway lead into a decorated great room, complete with a table full of snacks and drinks. "WELCOME, WELCOME!" A large voice boomed out on the crowd of us, a voice that belonged to the now free organizer, Master Hand. The appendage floated in the air in front of us, sweeping itself to gesture at the room. "This place I designed for all of you! Not only did it take a lengthy amount of time to complete, I made sure it has the best of everything! Mario, Link and I had organized a party, set to appear when you all arrived! So, go in, get to know each other!" And with that, Master Hand disappeared. I looked to my newfound friends to gauge their reactions. Marth was grinning largely, flashing a smile to everyone he saw and eventually going over to talk with Pit, Link, and of course, Mario. Meta Knight showed no change in the color of his eyes, which I had learned overtime indicated his mood. He was still wrapped in his cape, giving him his trademark "brooding edgelord" look. He glanced up at me expectantly, nodded once, then followed Marth into the now larger group of people. Well, there's nothing for me to do but follow... Striding over to where the both of them were, I realized that in our group of Link, Pit, Mario, Princess Peach, Zelda, Meta, Marth and I that Marth was doing most of the talking. Specifically, Marth was talking about our time in the wilds, just the three of us. "So, we had to go through the wilds, right? Okay, in this one place, we saw this tank thing. And, Ike, being dumb, decides, 'Hey! I'm gonna walk up to it and knock on it!'" Being reminded of my own slight stupidity was grating, and noticing that Peach laughed the loudest was slightly embarrassing. "So, this huge snake looking thing pops from the top of it, and lunges at Ike, so Meta runs in and slices it in half!"

"Do not embellish it so, Marth. I was only protecting Ike. I do not need praise for such a trivial action."

"Trivial? Trivial?! Dude, you sliced it in half, and stood there like a badass as the thing exploded!" Marth made dramatic arm movements to emphasize his point to the Knight, who just wrapped himself tighter in his cape, hiding even his eyes from the rest of the group, who were mostly laughing. Zelda noticed and waked over, having to crouch to put a hand on his shoulder. "Don't be so embarrassed. Take credit where credit is due." The wise princess muttered. Meta hid himself further in the fabric, probably blushing under that mask of his. The princess stood next to me as Meta slowly unraveled himself and Marth continued with his stories, green eyes inquisitive. "And this one time, I had this sword that I got from a primid. Cool, right? It glowed green, and it was really pretty, but I didn't quite know what to do with it. I just started playing with it, and I didn't realize that Meta was flying above me, so I thrusted it upward and it almost chopped his mask in half! Can you guys believe we almost saw his face?!"

"What do you think he looks like under it?" Peach's question was innocent enough, but I knew that Meta didn't like people even mentioning under his mask, much less talking about it. Zelda seemed to pick up on this, and cut something that Pit was about to say off. "Um, sorry Pit, but I don't think he likes you guys talking about him in this way. Perhaps we could change the subject?" Meta Knight seemed to melt with relief. As Marth resumed control over the conversation talking about a particularly tough battle that all three of us fought together, I noticed that he began to embellish some parts to make us sound cooler. Of course, he didn't seem to embellish parts that had Meta Knight, as I could remember those parts and they were exactly how he was describing them. With the two of us, however, he embellished some- okay, most- parts. Then, when that story ended, he began talking about some more things that we all got into, which was a lot. I could tell he was more than a little tipsy, as Peach kept getting everyone drinks. "So, this one time in Subspace, right? We were all looking for trophies, and Ike and I found Meta-"

"Ooh, I was there for this one! Marth, can I tell it?" I spoke up. I knew when Marth was tipsy, he tended to give out information, and in this story, Meta did something he'd probably never do in front of us again if Marth told this one. So, I decided to step in to save the Knight any further embarrassment. "Sure. Take it away, Ike!"

"Okay, so Subspace, yeah? Dark, gloomy place. We found Meta over in a corner somewhere, and after fighting some primids, we finally got him out of the trophy. You won't believe how disoriented he was!" I acted a bit dizzy, an imitation of my story. Marth was apparently too drunk to notice, so he laughed along with my stumbling act. "He almost fell off of a cliff! Thankfully, I was able to pick him up and get him reoriented."

"Wait a moment, he almost fell off a cliff?! He must have had such a weird dream!"

"Yes, it was quite strange. Unfortunately, it seems we haven't the time for me to elaborate. Perhaps another time?" I looked up at a wall clock to see that it was actually almost 10:00 at night! Did time really go that fast? I wondered. Peach looked slightly bummed out as we helped clean up. "You'll have to tell us about it later!" The princess blew a kiss at the both of us, and with that, pranced up the stairs. When we finally finished cleaning up, Marth went up the stairs, trying not to fall down. Then, when I was about to follow him, I felt a sharp tug on the corner of my cape. "Thank you, Ike." Meta Knight looked slightly embarrassed. "Marth seems to be quite the chatter..."

"Oh, yeah. Big time. I doubt he'll get drunk much more, though. Want me to talk to him about it in the morning?"

"If it is not too much trouble."

----------==========++++++++++==========----------

"I did WHAT?!" I explained to Marth what he almost gave away in the morning, when he was finally done throwing up. "Oh my gods, Meta, I'm so sorry!"

"I do not blame you, Marth. I know it was not you speaking, it was the alcohol. I forgive you." The Knight looked at peace with the both of us, eyes glowing magenta. "In the meantime, Marth, would you like some advice?"

"Sure. Lay it on me!"

"Take a shower. You look like a sewer rat." I couldn't hold in my laughter at Marth's shocked expression. His jaw dropped, blue eyes wide with, of course, shock and betrayal. "I thought you were gonna give me actual advice, instead of an insult!"

"Ah, well. I tried."

A/N

Two updates in less than a week?! It's unheard of! Either way, I don't know how I feel about this one. I like it, but I feel like it's too serious. I was going to go for a different idea, but... This one won out. I have a few more chapters queued, and be warned, after the next one, it gets ANGSTY. Also, there was a little foreshadowing!

Signing off for now,
