Chapter 5
My last piece of my father just being taken from me. Tears rolled slowly down my cheeks as I remembered my dad he worked a lot so I rarely saw him but, when he had time he would plan fun stuff for us to do. I remembered his smile and his soft voice. My thoughts were interrupted by a soft knock at my office door. I quickly wiped the tears off of my cheeks and whispered.
"Come in" my voice still shaky.
It was a royal guard.
"Ms. Emma I have been sent by the Queen to inform you that a another one of the jewels from the crown has disappeared." he said.
"Today is not a very good day..." I interrupted.
He cut me off.
"She also told me to tell you that she is only giving you one week to solve this mystery and that is final.... Im so sorry Ms. Emma but if you can not solve it in one week you will be put in prison for the crimes that have been committed." then he left slamming the door behind him.
I lay my head on the table and let out a sob
"one week? impossible" I thought.
I stayed late that night in my office/crime lab. I had gone home at lunch and taken pictures of my room, which I hadn't touched since the crime, and then I took finger print tests of the ladder. After my lunch brake ended I ran over to the Tower of London to look for clues and finger prints. I had three different samples two from the ladder and one from the crown. I had to wait until morning for the test to be complete so I decided to call it a night.
Everything seemed to be going wrong, one week to solve a mystery that might never be solved and sadness from missing my dad. Just as I was about to walk into my house I heard someone whisper my name. It was Oliver he had scarred me half to death. I don't know what creeped me out more, that he was whispering to me from my bushes or his face which wore a look of complete sadness and fear.
"Can I come in for a minute?" he asked me. I nodded my head and led him inside. His whole body shook from fear. I led him into my library upstairs where he plopped himself down in a chair by the fire-place. I sat down across from him. "I found your watch." he began as he pulled my watch from his pocket
