Hannah popped up by the docks. She walked up to them and wandered around. Suddenly, she felt a firm hand on her shoulder. "Miss, these docks are off limits to colonists, by order of the king. You'll have to come with me." It was a redcoat! He brought her to the tall brick house that she had painted earlier. They led her to a purple room where redcoats were having their socks scrubbed by the wife and daughter. They had disgusted looks on their faces.

Hannah had to stay the night and help with the scrubbing. She was awakened from her sleep by a faint pattering of feet. She opened her eyes in time to see a cloaked figure rush out of the doorway. Not wanting to be left behind, she followed him. He led her to a building that won the prize for most unnoticeable. It was a dull little hut made of wood with a straw roof. He wandered up to the door and knocked a complicated pattern on it. Hannah found a place by an old, boarded up window, and started writing down what she heard.
