Percy
I woke up feeling nauseous, my stomach swirling in discomfort.
This year I was being sent to a year round highschool by my mom, and my horrible step dad Gabe. He was the definition of asshole.
And the thought of starting a new school year terrified me. I was sick and tired of being the new kid, the one everyone either laughed at or was afraid of because of my past record of crimes.
Was I a troubled kid?
Yeah, you could say that.So now here I was, sitting in the backseat of my step dad's car with him and my mom.
"I'm sure this year will be different Percy." My mom tried to tell me. I knew she was only trying to do what was best for me, but that didn't stop me from being upset.
"Don't baby the little shit, Sally!" Gabe said looking away from the road for a second to glare at me through the review mirror. "He's sixteen years old. The kids got to learn."
My mom gave me a look that said, 'don't listen to him.'
But I just sighed and looked at my window watching the pine trees sped past my vision.
The worst part about the academy was that it was for troubled youth, other kids that had the same problems as me, or kids with worse aggressive problems. And the catch? I couldn't get expelled from this one. It was more like a prison than an academy.
The car jolted in front of the school, and Gabe unlocked my door.
"Alright, get out."
I clenched my teeth and got out of the car. My mom started to open her door but Smelly Gabe leaned over and shut it.
"Gabe, honey, I need to sign him in-"
"The damn boy can figure it out himself, he'll be fine." Gabe grumbled.
I looked at my mom, not wanting to cry. I knew I'd miss her, and it was still only September, I wouldn't get to see her until Christmas. "It's okay mom, I'll see you later."
My mom nodded, a few tears rolled down her checks. "Don't cry mom, if you cry I'll cry. It's going to be fine. I love you."
"I love you too Percy." I reached in and held her hand before I was forced out of the car. I opened the trunk and grabbed my back pack and suitcase, I slammed the trunk door hard and began to walk towards Half-Blood Academy, waving to my mom one last time.
When I walked in, the halls were empty. Classes must've been over already, I realized. It was like 5PM anyway.
I made my way to the administration office, the lady at the desk gave me my schedule and room number key. She also did a quick look through my bags for anything dangerous like drugs or weapons or something.
She then gave me a map of the school, and she offered to show me where to go but I told her I'd be fine on my own, hopefully. I really just wanted to be alone at the moment.
I left the office and looked at the papers she had given me. I had a room mate, someone who went by the name of Jason Grace.
I didn't like the idea of sharing a room with a guy I didn't know. I also wondered if he would be an asshole, like a lot of my previous roommates. It would just be my luck.
I made it to room 250, and took a deep breathe before walking in. Panic And fear started bubbling in the pit of my stomach. Man up Jackson. I thought.
When I walked in however, instead of one boy being there, there was three other boys my age.
A boy with blonde hair stood up. "Hi, You must be Percy. I'm Jason."
Jason was a little taller than me, and he was very muscular. He and a few of the other boys wore the school shirts, Orange and Purple T-shirts. Jason wore a purple one.
"Oh, um, hi." I said awkwardly. I shook his hand.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know you would be arriving today, so a few of my friends are over." Jason told me.
"It's okay." I assured him. My hand gripped the strap of my backpack as I stood there awkwardly.
"Well let me introduce you to them, it never hurts to know a few more people, moving to a new school is tough I know." He said. Jason seemed like a nice dude, although with his handsome appearance you would assume him to be another jock or jerk.
"This is Frank," Jason pointed to a tall Chinese boy with a purple T shirt. "Hi." He said smiling.
"Hello." I smiled back.
"And this is-" Jason had started before the last boy who hadn't been introduced yet interrupted him.
"I'm Leo McShizzle Valdez, bad boy supreme right here." A short scrawny boy with curly black hair said grinning. He resembled a latino santa elf, in my opinion.
"Uh hi. I'm Percy, although Jason already knew that." I said even more awkwardly.
"Yeah, so your side of the room is over there. There is already a bed and desk for you." Jason said.
I nodded and put my stuff down over on my side of the room. On the bed there was already a school uniform, a Orange T-shirt that had a flying horse on it. I knew the school had two teams who were always neck and neck with each other.
My classes started tomorrow and I was already dreading it. But maybe this year would be different, I've already met a few people. And they seemed nice.
"Hey Percy." Frank said "were heading out to dinner, and maybe you'd like to come with us, we can get to know each other better or something." Frank shrugged.
I smiled. "Yeah, that's a good idea. I'm in."
The other boys smiled at me, and for the first time today the nervousness in my stomach seemed to disappear.
