Yes, another chapter in the same night. So many people liked the story that I decided to work harder at updating it more often. That cutie over there is Sage. Comment if you want more, and I could always do with suggestions. Thanks:)

It was some time later, almost a whole day, that I realized something. We only had a few more days at the lake before we had to go back home. And the prank war had yet to be won. I had woken up that morning to find Sage covered head to toe in peanut butter, which I didn't really think was very fair, as she was only a puppy. But you see, the thing about puppies is that they love food. And being covered in such a lovely substance really made her little day. The morons who committed the crime had disappeared to their little hide out, so I had to clean her up. But we didn't have anything to wash her off with. I could always try to cramp her into the little shower with me, but I was worried that the enclosed space would scare her.

I could always try to use a bunch of water bottles full of water, but getting something as sticky as Jiffy Peanut Butter off required a larger source. She needed a bath, and I had nothing.

"Nikki, the sooner you wash that poor pup up the sooner the vultures stop circling. Something small and seasoned like her is almost too good to pass up for big birds." dad had called from the front porch. He had done that for a majority of the trip, sitting around on the swing and reading old books on the history of the world.

Mom had been doing loads of things, most of which included nature walks and becoming one with the Earth. She came back once from the forest smelling distinctly like old spice cologne, and I had a bad feeling that she had run into a trap meant for me.

"You really think a bird would get her, daddy?" I asked, clutching the squirming puppy closer to my chest.

"Oh yeah. Take her down to the lake. You can wash her off there and maybe give her some exercise." he said absentmindedly, letting his bespectacled eyes flicker back to the oh so interesting pages before him.

I nodded at his suggestion and took her into the forest, taking my usual path to the fort, and then to the lake from there. Sage was really interested in the fort, as she could smell all the different things inside, but forgot about it after the water came into sight.

She made a little whining sound, and I let her run to the edge. Immediately she started sniffing, experimentally dipping a paw in before retreating like the water had stung her. I laughed at her reaction to the cold, before wading in up to my knees to show her that the water was harmless. After that she seemed fine, jumping around and wagging her tail at the strange watery liquid all around her.

She had rolled over in the shallow part once, and the coat of peanut butter clinging to her coat became a slimy mess. I glanced down sadly at my shorts and t-shirt before sitting down in the water, letting her get right up in my face and jump around in my arms. I was now coated in dog slobber, water, and peanut butter. It took about ten minutes to scrub her coat white again, and at that point she had calmed down and gotten used to the aspect of a lake.

I got out of the water and wrung out the hem of my shirt, wincing at the amount it had soaked up. Sage pranced around my feet happily, feeling much better now that the evidence of the prank had been washed from her coat.

Leading her back to the fort, I thought about how lonely things were going to be. Andy had left for his honeymoon with Alexandra, so it was just me against the idiots once more.

"You know, you're awfully cute" I told her, bending down and scratching behind her ears.

Sage absolutely loved the fort. It was big enough for her to travel through, and she found a certain love for a spot near the entrance. I made a leash for her out of the rope hanging on the wall, and brought her back to the house clean and happy. The only troublesome thing about the whole situation was that she looked really eager to go back in the forest, and I didn't want her wandering off.
