"Single file line, ladies." The coach instructs, her mouth curved into the same scowl she's been wearing for the past 3 years. On impulse i began moving with the group, before i realized something was wrong. I stopped in the middle of the assemble, disconnecting myself from the group. A few curious glances were shot my way before they continued on their march outside.
The sound of the metal doors closing echoed throughtout the gym, i slid into the darkshadows of the sports equipment pulling out the note inside of the bottle, half of it was missing leaving only a little bit of writing to interpret.
It was written in messy caligraphy but it wasn't exactly hard to read, the first word was simple. You.
You can be who you've always dreamed you just have to- Suddenly the paper is ripped out of my hand, automatically i reached for it only to lock eyes with the only person in the world i resented.
Matthew Records, and there in his hand, he held the fragile paper- the key to our existence.
"Well, well. What do we have here?" he mocked, his lips pulling up into a devious smile.
"Stop Matthew!" I begged, jumping for the paper. Matthew blocked me with his hand, then so abruptly it startled me, matthew grabbed my arm hauling me out of the shadows and into the supply closet.
Fear edged it's way into the dark corners of my brain, Matthew wouldn't try anything i was sure- or atleast that's what i told myself.
"Calm down im not going to hurt you-" he whispers, flicking the light on.
"I just want to know how you got the other half of my paper."
