For the rest of the day, we trained with my power. Alia finished sewing up Juliette's suit but it still won't be ready for a few more days, she says.
I haven't told James about our plan to get away from Sector 45, maybe because I'm worried he'll be disappointed. He seems really attached to everyone here, I don't know how the hell he'll react.
After I shower, I dry off and change into a tight black shirt and black pants. I wear my usual shoes as well and then dry my hair in a towel before finding Alia talking to Brendon outside the locker room.
"You look beautiful" he says as he tucks some of Alia's hair behind her ear.
She blushes.
Wait, what?
No. No, not again. I'm far too screwed up to go through another goddamn love triangle.
I survived Juliette's, but I can't lose Alia.
"You look like a liar" she replies to him.
That sentence makes my heart flutter.
"Not about this" he laughs.
"What's going on?" I step in and rest my arm around Alia's shoulders.
Both of them eye my arm, and Alia looks back at me as if to say 'are you sure you're not mistaking me for someone else?'.
"Ali and I were just talking, you kinda interrupted, Kent" Brendon says.
"I was um, just leaving a-actually" Alia says and escapes my grasp. "I'm gonna go check on James".
When she leaves, Brendon and I look at each other.
Oh shit.
"You know you don't have to be such a dick about everything. Just because you were the one to get her to talk, doesn't mean you two are together" Brendon warns.
"Well we're kinda dating so I'm gonna need you to back off" I say back.
He takes a step back as the anger leaves his face, turning into pure shock.
I'm surprised by my own words. I said the first thing that popped into my mind to get him to back off of her.
Brendon opens his mouth to say something, but closes it, and then walks away.
Good.
"Alright, break's over. Everyone get back to work!" Kenji calls out.
