Harley's POV
It's been a week already but Savannah isn't waking up yet. Not to mention, it's also my birthday but I don't feel like celebrating.
I neatly placed the flowers on the vase in Savannah's room. Many people had stopped over to come and visit and I needed to be here more than before.
The soft clink of my heels was enough to make me go crazy with the deafening silence so I popped on a wireless headset and played pop tunes to keep my mind out of it.
I never liked hospitals. They gave off a cold vibe for me. It was the very place where people see, hear and breathe their very last and I hated it.
"Sav, you're unfair. It's time for you to wake up or I'll tell on Troy." I threatened.
But on the hand, it's the also the place where lots of people get their firsts. Maybe we just tend to focus on the negative sides for most of the time.
Nighttime came and Troy arrives with two bunches of flowers with Clay in tow holding a small box.
Lilies and Roses.
"The lilies are for you and the roses are for Savannah right here." He placed the roses beside a sleeping Savannah as he lightly placed a kiss on her forehead.
"Thanks, Troy." I said, accepting the lilies.
She still wasn't moving.
Clay brought out a cake and he lit a candle for me all in all, there's only me, Clay, Troy and an unconscious Savannah in one room with a lighted candle on a chocolate cake.
"Make a wish, Princess." Clay urged.
I closed my eyes and prayed. Hard. I wish that Savannah can finally wake up. Troy's been a mess every since she slept a week ago. We still haven't watched the rest of the series we once planned on watching. Why must fate be so cruel?
After blowing the candle, we each took our own slices and talked like eveything is normal.
Pretty soon, it was Troy's turn to guard Savannah. I prepped on my overnight bag and left with Clay.
"Our contracts about to expire." Clay said.
"What do you mean?"
"Me and Savannah's. After this month, I'm officially no longer her husband. I'm a free man now. But it makes me even more guilty that I couldn't save her or make her happy for her remaining days.
"Have you told Troy already?"
"The guy's smart. He did his research. I'm afraid we can't deny him everything now." He shrugged.
Troy's POV
For some, life went on as usual. My bestfriend had his happy ending with his childhood crush and I'm stuck at a hospital waiting for mine to wake up.
"I was going to propose to you right when I get back. Why do you need to sleep for so long? I understand that you don't want people to fuss about you but we're all human and we do care. I don't care how long you'll last on this Earth. All I'm asking is that... you'll find it in your heart to spend the rest of your days with me. I promise to make you the happiest woman alive. Just... please. Come back." The very thought of losing her crushed me. Her doctor said that it's already too late to perform any form of miracles.
"It's already a miracle enough that she lasted this long. She would've been gone almost a month ago." The old man confessed. "She's a strong girl, that one."
In the middle of the night, I felt a pair of weak arms circling around me. The arms felt cold but I still leaned on to it.
"Troy?" A familiar voice said.
I opened my eyes and stared into her eyes. I instantly got up and opened the bedside lamp and sat beside her.
"I'm sorry for not telling you." She said.
"It's fine, Savannah. Just... come back to me when you're ready. You need to rest for a while."
"How long was I out?"
"A week."
"But then... Harley's birthday is today!" She exclaimed.
"Relax. No need to be excited about it. We celebrated it a while ago in here with you."
"Really?" She smiled.
"Yes." I said, kissing her cheek.
"Troy?" This time, he voice changed from weak into somewhat... determined.
"Yes?"
"I wanna get out of here. If I'm gonna go, I might as well disappear where I can see the three of you in a calm and serene place." I can feel her arms limping again as she lightly snores into my chest.
"We'll get out of here. I promise."
