Friend

A relationship between two people who hold mutual affection for each other; friendly disposition or feeling for another; the bond of friends; someone you'd do anything for.

I've never been so sure and yet, so afraid in my life.

We planned to go together about a week in advance. I'm so exhausted from exams but having him around me is giving me the energy I never knew I had.

The clock reads exactly seven'o'clock. I never usually take this long to get ready but this night was going to a special for me.

For us.

I comb through my hair and slick it back with gel. I haven't done this style in a long time, I hope he finds it attractive. I've been anticipating this day all week. I was never this anxious for the festival before. I was especially anxious for the fireworks. That's when I would do it. That's when I will confess my feelings. I don't care if he doesn't feel the same way about me. I want him- No. I need him to know.

I stare at him as he pulled his black socks onto his tiny legs. I gaze at his petit face, he was making that cute pout he did when he was embarrassed or in deep concentration. His dark hair glistened like the night sky, every highlight resembled a sparkling star. His face was glowing a subtle peach, he is usually quite pale but today is different, he isn't stressed because he doesn't have to deal with the people at school anymore. I wish there was something I could've done to make him comfortable or content with this routine. I have all summer to think of a solution, for now, I have to focus on making this date perfect for us.

"Bumi~. Are you ready?" I walk into his room and lean on his doorframe. I can't help but smile at his outfit, we managed to match. I may have planned to match with Bum by figuring out his clothing patterns. I even bought a matching green parka with the extra money I earned from tips.

"Yeah!" He jumps up cutely from his bed and walks passed me towards the door. I stay in my place and watch him as he puts on his shoes. He pauses and looks at me. "Are you coming or what?"

"Of course." I chuckle and follow him out the door.

It was just as beautiful as I faintly remembered it. The glimmering lights of the festival shone brightly. I could barely contain my excitement. Having Sangwoo next to me, inches away wasn't calming my nerves one bit, but I am glad I am with him at this moment; nothing else matters.

Just us.

"How about we start eating? I am starving!"

"Haha, me too!" I laugh at Sangwoo's excitement and he grabs my hand drags me to the food market area.

We walk through looking at all the different types of food they had this year. One stand with an older lady caught our attention as she was handing out tteokbokki crackers and banana milk.

"Let's start with this!" I was surprised Sangwoo wanted to start with something so small seeing as we are surrounded with food stands selling real meals.

Sangwoo and I stand in line, we talk and laugh while we wait and when it is finally our turn the lady smiles brightly at us. Sangwoo gives her money and a tip.

"So sweet of you. Here's one for you and one for your little brother." The lady smiles and pinches my cheek before handing us our snacks. We both laugh nervously and don't say anything to her and walk away.
