And here we are. Welcome to the present.
I run. Nothing to lose. Everything to gain. I sprint through the trees. I can still hear the dogs and the guards chasing me. They're gaining. I start to panic. Not a good thing. Panic makes you think irrationally. I try to calm myself down. And its working, that is, until I see the giant fucking canyon at the edge of the forest. The waterfall I saw must have fed into another river and helped to carve this thing.
Now I'm panicking. Full on do or die mode. Obviously my body is in full on suicide mode because as the dogs are right behind me and about to take me out I jump.
I haven't even made it to the canyon yet. The thing is 50 feet wide and I tried to jump 20 feet early. That leaves me with a 70 foot jump. Well, I think right as my feet leave the ground. Its been a nice life. My feet hit the ground again about two feet from my starting point. And this time i think to myself, actually,no it hasn't. I put on even more speed and sprint to the edge of the canyon. I jump again.
But this time, I don't hit the ground again after two feet. I'm flying. Over the canyon. Once i realize that I'm flying i flip around so that I can look at my former guards and show them my beautiful middle fingers in a moment of triumph.
This is so fucking awesome I think to myself. I turn back around to resume my flight and find that suddenly I'm skidding across the dirt on the other side of the canyon.
I come to a stop after about 9,000 miles of sliding on my ass and stand up. I realize that I was never flying. It was just a jump. But still, pretty impressive. I suddenly feel about the equivalent of 16 swords stabbing my ass and start screaming like a sailor telling the earth to go fuck itself and do a few other improbable things. I slowly start to gain control of myself and slowly and painfully shuffle away.
I see lights off in the distance. It must be a city. I decide that that's where I will head in the morning and spend the rest of the day making a shelter and tending to my butt. I fall asleep as the sun starts to set and have wonderful dreams about what is to come with my newly granted freedom.
