Krist Pov.

Singto Pov.

I thought the masqueraders were crazy and cruel but this Commander Wad guy beats any of them, if he found out about all of us who hid the love we felt for sure he'd put us all on a bonfire and watch us all burn and clap at the end. The risk is now worse, by far he has seen Tee get tense among so many of us, surely he is more dangerous and our care must be redoubled. I'm shaking but not like the tremors that Krist causes me, it's the tremor of fear of what might happen, of losing Krist and that all our effort to be together is in vain, I try to focus again not to draw attention and look at the row of masqueraders facing us, they are in 20 and I only know 3 of them, those who punished us and the one dealing with our wounds, masked Forth, I look at each one and realize that one of them, Prem, is not looking at us but Commander Wad, even though only the eyes are the only things we can see in the faces of the masked ones, it is still possible to understand certain emotions and that emotion I know well, Prem looks at the Commander who has his back to him the way I and Krist look at each other and finally I realize the possibility that the masked ones could also be corrupted.
