"He's so cool! I can't believe this! I'll finally not be the only robot here!"Peggy jumps up and down a bit.
"But you aren't the only robot." Emily looks at Peggy with a small look of confusion. "I know most of the other robots are in lower grades of the school but there are others in our grade. Well, I guess most of them are jerks."
"Hi, I'm Peggy! It's a pleasure to meet you!" Peggy bounces forward slightly.
"I'm Tamara and this is Roy. Don't do anything stupid in this group or I'll be the one who punches first." Tamara smiles and crosses her arms playfully, but knowing her she's not interested in any guys and I can see Felix reads that.
Peggy still bounces with excitement in the background until Emily finally restrains her in a hug, and Peggy doesn't resist it. They seem so close to each other, maybe one day me and Felix can be close pals. Maybe not as close as Emily and Peggy, they almost seem like a couple. We head inside as the first bell rings and make our ways to class, I give Felix a small tour and Cloud jumps in sometimes to help when my mind blanks. Then once class starts Peggy starts explaining how robots aren't actual students, he seems mad about that. But time passes quickly and we're soon in gym, where Felix can join but he doesn't seem interested.
"Need help Alex?" Cloud walks over as he sees me struggling with throwing a frisbee, I've never thrown one.
I don't even answer as he steps forward and fixes my stance slightly and grabs my hand holding the frisbee. He's explaining the basics and I'm half listening and half panicking at how close we are. We are very close friends but this is a little too close in a public place. And I think he notices as he let's go and stands back with an apologetic expression. I notice Felix glaring in our direction, what is he glaring at? Me? Cloud?
"I'm sorry." I look back to Cloud apologizing for what happened.
"I should be the one apologizing Alex, I shouldn't have gotten that close. But honestly....everyone's a little gay." We both start laughing, he always makes the best one liners at the strangest of times.
"Alex! Can you help me?" Emma calls from across the gym as she's trying to do closet check.
"Coming! Let's talk later Cloud." He nods and I hurry over to Emma.
Cleaning up the gym closet is no easy thing, especially when Emma's closet partner run off with friends. I later look back near the end of class to see Felix and Cloud talking. Cloud having his arms crossed over his chest makes me worried, when his arms are crossed like that with a mad expression it means he's about to punch something. Most likely Felix. He starts raising his voice and that's when I run over and get between them.
"Hey what's going on here?" They both stop immediately.
"Oh nothing to worry about, just having a little chat. Cloud here seems to be getting over-reactive." I grab Cloud's shoulder as I see this angers him, Felix just smirks. It's a bit unsettling.
"Class is going to end soon, you should go change out of your gym clothes and calm down." Cloud doesn't argue and just walks off to the locker room.
"What did you do to anger him so much?" I look back at Felix a bit mad this time now that Cloud is gone.
"...I simple just asked him to be more careful, he almost stepped on your foot and could've tripped you." He holds a straight face.
I start walking towards the locker rooms without responding to him. He grabs my arm and pulls me back forcefully before letting go. I leave and head for lunch as soon as Cloud is finished. But I also notice Felix doesn't join us, I feel bad for acting like that but I had my reasons. Cloud heads to the table before me.
"Hey Alex." Eliza walks up to me and smiles. "Do you want to have lunch with me today? Just us?"
"Like a date?" My voice quivers slightly, I've never been on a date. Unless you count the time me and Cloud went to a movie and then had dinner afterwards, it wasn't awkward until thinking about it now.
She laughs and that's what makes me smile, it's a date. She grabs my hand and we leave the school to a small restaurant nearby. We get a table and order quickly, we both want this to last yet not be too long. I feel like I keep seeing things around the room. Not things, more like people. I feel like I keep seeing Felix around the place, but why would he follow me? Is he just here to keep my in check? Or is it something else?
"Alex? Is everything okay?" I wasn't paying attention to the conversation, shoot.
"Yeah, I'm fine, just a little...off today. Like a part of me is somewhere else at the moment." She smiles lightly.
"I know that feeling..." Her smiles fades. "But this seems different from that."
I see him again, no, not him. I see Adrian pass by faster than I can process that he was here. He was physically here, I know it. I look back to Eliza to see she's concerned. I wave it off as soon as out food comes. It's quiet for a while, no conversation, just a silence between us. I keep seeing them both walking around and I can't help but look. Is my mind playing tricks? We get back to school as soon as we can and wait outside the lunch room on a bench.
"Alex?" I look at her as she stands. "I don't know if this was a good idea. You haven't really been yourself lately....I think we should just be friends until we both feel that it's the right time. I'm sorry."
And just like that, She leaves.
