"All my life I just wanted someone to be with me forever, someone who wouldn't leave. When I noticed others in the life of that person I was jealous that I was nothing like them, that I would never be like them. I wanted that person to myself....and so I killed." He wipes his tears and looks at me. "I'm nothing more than a dangerous robot....I should be dead....please, deactivate me while you can...I don't want to hurt anyone else."
"Felix, no. We can change this, together." I start walking over knowing what he's going to do next.
"I'm sorry." Felix flips open the panel on the back of his neck and takes a final look at me before shutting himself off and falling.
"Felix!" Running over and grab him and look at the panel almost crying, this isn't what I wanted to happen. "How do I reactivate him!?"
I'm crying now. Peggy rushes over and slides beside me looking at the panel and feeling hers. She finds the switch on her panel and finds it on his. She shuts hers and flips the switch shutting the panel. And it works, he soon registers and opens his eyes, his tears still streaming down his face.
"...what's going on?...why am I...still here?...Alex?" I'm crying, out of fear, sadness, and now joy.
"Why would you do that?! Don't ever do that to me again! You are worth so much more than death! Don't ever do that again! Please...death is not the answer...people can change." Peggy helps him sit up from my lap as I start wiping my tears and trying to calm down.
"Yeah, look at all of us. Everyone's changed. For one, we've learned so much more than any robot that's not me or you." Peggy smiles hopefully.
"I've definitely learned a thing or two about myself...because of you. In a good way." He looks at me showing a smile, I know what he's thinking, 'I love you'.
"I've learned to see that my actions are not fair." Blaze looks guilty, and she is.
"Or even nice." Jordan chimes in with her.
"I've learned to just be myself and be independent." Brook smiles joyfully.
"I've learned to trust myself and others more." I can tell Emily is hugging him as he's smiling with slight sadness hidden within.
"Not to jump to conclusions too fast." Tamara smiles to me apologetically.
"And to believe we can all change no matter what, nothing stays the same." Eliza walks from the front of the school over to Cloud and Tamara.
"I'm sorry...." I can't help but hug him with all my heart.
"People can change." He hugs back burying his face in my shoulder. "And I know you can too."
"Can we....start again?" I let go and lock eyes with him with a proud smile.
"I don't see why we can't." Felix smiles. "As long as we can just be ourselves."
"I think that sounds splendid." Eliza smiles to all of us.
The school is shut down for the day and Felix is questioned my the principal. But with the help of all of us were able to bail him out of the situation. But of course Peggy ask something I didn't know would actually be possible.
"Felix come on! We're gonna be late!" Felix burst out of his room grabbing his bag from the table, tossing me my headphones, and racing out the door with me.
We meet up with the group, Cloud walks beside me everyday now. And, everyone's lives got a little more interesting. Jordan and Blaze have actually come out as a couple, and I think Eliza and Brook might have a small relationship blooming. They've gotten quite close after what happened. Also David has been treating Peggy like his sister now, I think it's his type of way of coping for the both of them.
"So, looks like Eliza and Brook might be something one day. What now?" Cloud looks at me a bit smug.
"Well, maybe I wasn't ready to date girls. Not yet at least, maybe another time." He sighs. "I said girls."
It takes him a moment to process it, and then he gasps. I laugh, Felix looks at the both of us. I learned that Felix liked me too for the time being, but he nods to me. He's okay with change, we all are.
"Hey Peggy! Grab your camera!" She perks up and pulls it out immediately knowing this is the moment.
I grab Cloud by his hood strings and pull him into a kiss. Peggy snaps a few pictures before I let go and keep walking, everyone's laughing and smiling while Cloud is in shock. Eliza snaps him out of it and he races back over to me. Peggy sends me the pictures with a big smile. Since two days ago everything changed. Even Felix and Peggy became students at the school. We head off to our classes and take our seats. Felix now sits at the desk next to me with Peggy, but he keeps his chair near mine. Still protective. The world around us is always changing, sometimes change is good and sometimes it's bad. But I think I'm going to enjoy this change for a very long time.
