"I believe there's more to Felix than we know. There's a soft spot in him and I know it, I've seen it and I've felt it." Everyone's listening now, David is even writing this down on the whiteboard in my room to help.
"So what do you suppose we do? Go to war? Create a peace treaty? It's not going to work." Blaze is right, but not entirely.
"Alex knows him better than anyone, maybe he can get to that soft spot somehow. He just needs help to do so." Jordan's right, completely.
"So what? We march in and just talk?" Tamara's right, and I nod. "You can't be serious."
"It's worth a shot. And in event that that doesn't work, we scatter and try to bring him down. But please don't hurt him too badly." Peggy laughs slightly along with Cloud.
"You're too kind." Cloud smiles to me.
"I know. Now, let's get set up for the night, I'll grab the blow up mattresses and blankets. Cloud can you get pillows from the basement?" He nods and we head off getting ready.
Jordan and Blaze start blowing up a mattress for them, David helps Peggy, and Eliza and Brook set up a bed for each other. Tamara chose the couch, not the most comfortable place but she makes it work since she's already asleep. Cloud throws a blanket over her and helps the others get set up with pillows and blankets. Eliza and Brook sleep on a smaller mattress, seeing opposite of each other to have a bit of room. David allows Peggy most of the mattress they have, and Blaze snuggles with Jordan. Cloud and I share my bed for the night, and I think it's fair after what he said to me. 'I loved you'. It's late now, two in the morning and I've barely slept. Everyone's still asleep but I can't stay in my sleep anymore, I don't want to see whatever that dream is. Was the red telling me how much time I had left until I would get myself killed? I don't know.
"Something wrong?" I'm startled by Cloud's voice as he sleepily looks at me.
"Sorry, did I wake you?" He shakes his head and sits up leaning against me almost asleep again.
"I felt that something was wrong, there wasn't a presence next to me." He gives a small laugh and smiles. "So what's wrong?"
"I guess my mind has just been wondering tonight. I'm just so worried for everyone." He wraps his arms around me and locks eyes.
"Everything is going to be okay, we have you. Yes, some of us thought of you as oblivious but you truly are something special. Always finding the good in people, even Blaze and Jordan. They've always hated you because you were more popular than them." I smile to him. "But that's the point, you have something we don't. You don't give up on people. Now, time to sleep. Come on."
I lay back with him and stare at the ceiling, he's asleep again. He's got a tight grip too, he doesn't plan on letting me go. I close my eyes and just relax for now. And then there I am, in the same dream. Only this time, all of the red is gone and only a small floating speck of it is here. The person holding that speck is Adrian, he walks over and hands it to me. Emily and Roy join in, smiling.
"You can do this, I know you can." He smiles and I hug them knowing this might be the last time I ever see them.
"I love you guys, I'm really going to miss you all." They hug back without hesitation.
"We'll always be in your heart." Emily smiles.
"Be yourself for us, okay?" I nod to Roy and let go as the place starts to fade.
"We'll meet again, I promise. One day." Adrian's last words. "We all love you. Don't forget that."
And everything's back to day, everyone's getting ready and cleaning up the room. They're almost done, Cloud smiles to me. He let me sleep in.
"Ready?" I nod to Cloud and get up.
We head for school, as a team, a group of friends. After today, nothing will be the same. I can feel Adrian, Emily, and Roy with me, they're ready. At school everyone's outside and the school gates are locked. He's in there threatening kids.
"Give me a boost." Jordan and Blaze help Eliza up over the school wall where she can get to the office and unlock the gate.
It's a few moments before she does and once there we get in to stop him.
"Felix! This is enough!" Felix looks at us, he has a gun!
"Just in time, and I see you brought every person I have to kill." He raises the gun, not to them but to me.
"Felix...I want to help you. I want to be your friend. Please, put down the gun and let me be the person you want. A friend, isn't that what you want? Someone to care about you? I know that feeling, being alone and feeling as if no one cares but...I have them, they have been there for me. Please, let me do the same." I don't care what happens as long as I save my friends. I have to get that gun from him, so I go forward.
"Stay back! I will shoot! I won't hesitate!" I keep going.
"Felix don't do this, you wouldn't. I know you, at least some of you." He's starting to shake, why? "You care about me just as much as I care about you. I know you won't shoot. Felix Pleas-"
Bam. He shot but I notice I'm not dead. No one is. Opening my eyes I see he shot upwards. He's crying as he falls to his knees dropping the gun.
"Felix?" He's just crying, Cloud comes over and stands next to me now with Tamara.
