I got myself ready for work the next day

I assumed you were still asleep since it was early

I creaked the bedroom door open

You lay exactly where I left you

I tip toed over to the bed and sat on the edge

I ran my fingers through your hair, trying to wake you in the most calming way possible

Your eyes slowly opened, the pupils dilating in shock once you saw me

You sat up and edged away from me

You looked petrified

I told you to calm down

You shook your head rapidly

I gently held your hand and drew circles with my thumb

I gave you a full blown apology with reasons and all

You calmed down at my words

You accepted the apology
