Kenzy awoke that morning in her bed and realized it was her time to go so and with a heavy heart she packed her things that she neglected to do last night knowing what was she was todo so she went to her closet and pulled out her saddle and her backpack along with her arrow quiver full of terrasteel and redstone arrows and her shadow crystal bow that her Father gave her on her seventh birthday she almost felt the tears return at the thought of all of this but still it was very childish last night even spoiled maybe she then shook it off
"Lets see clothes for at least several weeks, extra non-perishable food, water catines which I'll have to fill and my traveling clothes" she set those to the side knowing she would have to change and once the backpack was packed she heard a knock on her door knowing exactly who it was
"Come in" Kenzy said with a monotone voice while making sure her bow string wasn't frayed and dangerous to shoot before she left
"Kenzy? Look I wanna talk about last night and..." Kenzy only sighed turning towards him and leaned on the foot of her bed after setting the bow in its holder on the saddle
"I know I know I'm sorry okay it's just-" her Father stepped into the room with almost a serious look about him that he hardly shown for he was so playful and shut the door behind him
"look we're both of fault I just dropped this job outta nowhere on you and I should've told you sooner but" he rushed over and took his daughter within his arms filling Kenzy's nose with the smell of fire and steel
"No matter what happens we are family and I love you so much that even the Gods could never break out bond" Gods he only ever mentioned Ianite seeing he worshipped her relentlessly and taught Kenzy the same
"Father..." she returned the hug and felt the tears return this time of happiness as they stood in that little room of hers
"Now" he cleared his throat and let go of Kenzy and stepped back "Steve is waiting for I believe and before you go I have a present just for you" so after her Father left Kenzy changed into her traveling clothes leaving the clothes she wore yesterday in a hamper by her door and looked into the mirror where a woman with a red quarter sleeve shirt and brown loose pants with her riding boots then to complete it all a pair of special fingerless riding gloves that had bronze knuckles built into them for extra protection
"Kenzy are you gonna stand around all day or what?" her Father called from downstairs "I'm coming hold your horses!" and she pulled on her backpack and grabbed her saddle then rushed downstairs where her Father stood with something covered by a old brown tarp
"Father is this my surprise?" she asked while sitting down her saddle on a nearby chair as he Father rocked on his heels while trying to hide his big mischievous smile that he wore whenever he could
"Maybe~" he sang and Kenzy walked towards the tarp covered object and reached out touching the rough material
"Can it?..." Father grinned and she grabbed it and pulled revealing a purple set of armor that gleamed brightly with black accents sitting upon a armor dummy that gleamed brightly it caused Kenzy to go wide eyed at this
Kenzy's Father chuckled "what do you think about the villages birthday gift to you" she looked upon herself in the shiny, reflective surface and felt a huge smile came about as she yelled out a cheer
"Well well seems like someone's happy" her Father said as she looked about the armor stand seeing every detail about it
"Are you kidding I love it I'm going to put it on!" Kenzy cried out as she starting pulling the chest plate off and slipping it on with her Father helping her along the way making sure nothing was pinching her or anything didn't fit right and finally he stood back as she took the helmet from his spot upon the top of the stand
"My baby girl all grown up and going on an adventure on her own!" he said proudly while pretending to wipe a tear from his eye as Kenzy turned on her feet
"This is so cool!" Kenzy said excitedly then she looked to her Father who stood there looking at her with kind and sad eyes that seemed to beam with pride
"Father this is amazing and...and" she couldn't find the words to even describe this "the village decide that their guard and warrior should have at least something the travel safely in beside you sword and bow so they found some ores lying about in the treasury and decided to make sure that you wouldn't be too sad when you left on your birthday"
Kenzy sighed "thank you this must've took hours" and her Father approached her and took the helmet from her hands and place it on her head where it rested comfortably and was secured and Kenzy's Father gave her a map and a hand on a shoulder before he spoke again his voice cracking
"You better get moving otherwise we'll be all day love" he then kissed her nose as he handed her a wrapped package which she knew immediately to be Farmer Steve's and reminded herself to place it in her backpack later "come back swiftly and may Ianite guide your way" and with that she stepped back from her Father and gave him one last look over then moved to the pegs by the door and grabbed her sword slung it over on her shoulder along with her cloak which she resecured around her neck
"Good luck out there" he said while she flipped up the cowl of her cloak which now hid her armor
"I will" and with that she grabbed her saddle and went outside where her trusted horse Spade waited and stood still as she attached the saddle and mounted it as her Father walked to the window where he watched as she gave one last wave and rode off the the road out of the mountain where the village rested hidden from the eyes of Mianite
"Not for much longer" he whispered "not for long"
