Red and blue make purple

Nineteen

Lilith looked out of the small aircraft. All she saw were large mountains covered in snow with a  beautiful, glistening city in between. Her eyes widened with awe as she pressed her face against the glass.

"Mama! Look!" She pointed down to the city below. Keith was sitting next to her with now eight month old Ash in his arms. His hair was all messy and curled around his ears and on his forehead.

"I see, baby girl." Keith replied, playing with one of Ash's many curls. "Ready to play in the snow?"

"Snow?" Lilith tilted her head. Being born and raised in space, Lilith had no idea what snow or even what rain was. Keith inched a bit closer to the window.

"See, that's snow." He pointed to the white flurries coming down all around. Lilith pressed her hands against the cold glass.

"Cool!" She smiled, crawling over the seat to look at her baby brother.

"Ash! It's snow!" Ash had his yellow eyes open. He raised one of his chubby fists and screeched as his way of saying he was excited.

Lance came in from the front of the ship. Shiro following behind him. He was now able to walk, but his arm was still missing.

"We're about to land. Should get your things together." Lance kissed Keith on the forehead. Keith nodded, getting up and going over to the pile of bags they've brought. The red one was of course his. It mostly contained toddler toys and baby supplies. He took out another woolen blanket and put it around Ash's body. Ash laid his head in the crook of Keith's neck as he picked up the bag and walked to the door.

"Lilith, we're landing sweetie." Lilith came running over from her spot next to the window and reached for Lance's hand. Lance took it and and with the other held onto to Keith to help him walk down the steps.

The snowy planet was home to the Ja'al people. They were blue skinned people with weird shaped heads and pointy ears. One of them greeted the group right as they got off the ship.

"Greetings, Voltron." The leader of the Ja'al people said with a wide smile. Shiro shook his hand.

"Thank you for letting us stay here. I know the rest and I would have a wonderful time here." The leader nodded and his smile widened when he saw Lilith and Ash.

"Oh, children!" He clapped his hands together. "The next generation of Voltron, I see." He smiled up at Keith. "They're such beautiful children." Keith smiled, rubbing Ash's back.

"Thank you.." Lilith had hid under her hoodie, even tucking her hair in it. She was shy when it came to strangers. The leader chuckled.

"Make yourselves at home, paladins." He nodded towards them one last time.

Lilith ran in first, jumping onto the bed. She giggled and rolled all over. Lance helped Keith put the bags down and closed the door with his foot. Ash had started to cry and fuss.

"Oh, baby." Keith took the blanket off him and laid him down on the bed. Lilith crawled over and laid near her little brother as Keith rubbed his puffy hair back. "Lance, can you get me his bottle?"

"Yeah, sure." Lance unzipped the red bag containing all the baby supplies and took out one of the many bottles. He went in deeper, getting out the formula and a wiping cloth. Keith nodded, sitting on the bed and working his mama magic. He laid Ash in his arms and fed him while Lilith jumped off the bed and looked out the wide window leading to the balcony.

"Mommy! I wanna go there!"She pointed downstairs. Lance walked over. She was pointing to the hot springs.

"Maybe, if mommy lets us." Keith had finished feeding Ash and was patting his back.

"Well, we didn't pack bathing suits." Lilith looked down. Lance held up his finger and went over to his bag. He went through and pulled out Lilith's bathing suit and his own.

"I packed everyone's." He even had Keith's bathing suit and Ash's little trousers. Keith chuckled, sitting Ash in the bowl of his lap.

"I guess we can." Lilith jumped up. Her pigtails bouncing.

"Yay!" She ran over and hugged Keith and even laid  a little kiss on Ash's forehead. "Come on, daddy!" She tugged on Lance's shirt.

"Alright, I'm coming!" Lance looked over at Keith with a smile. "Ready?" Keith sat up, placing Ash on his hip. He nodded, grabbing the bag of baby supplies just in case.

Lance and Lilith were already heading into the warm waters as Keith changed Ash. He changed him into swimming diapers and slid on his trousers that was blue with little stars all around. Ash sucked on his fist, looking up at Keith the whole time.

"Hey, little man." Keith swept his puff of hair back and picked him up. "Ready to take your first swim?" Ash patted Keith on the chest and shrieked with excitement. "I guess that's a yes." Keith smiled. He slowly dipped into the warm water, still holding Ash. Lance was teaching Lilith how to doggy paddle nearby. He watched with a smile at his lover and his little girl. Ash started to slap the water and giggled. Keith sat him down on the first step and watched Ash as he tried picking up the water in his tiny fist, and tilted his head in confusion when it would spill out from between his fingers.

"Hey, It seems like you guys found the pool as well!" Pidge came in wearing her bathing suit. A green top and bottom with frills. Shiro was behind her in his own trunks. They fit him well and everyone that was there stopped to stare at him.

"Hey Pidge and Shiro!" Lance called and guided Lilith to the steps. "You guys coming in or what?" Pidge jumped into the water, making a big splash. Lilith covered her face and laughed as Pidge came back up.

"How about you, Shiro?" Keith looked over at him while making sure Ash didn't fall over. Shiro rubbed the back of his neck.

"I don't know." He looked down at where his metal arm used to be. "It's been awhile." Keith sat up and went over to Shiro and grabbed his hands.

"You'll be fine." He gave a smile which made Shiro blush slightly. He helped Shiro into the water and released him when he got waist deep. Shiro looked down at the water and ran his fingers through it. He smiled. "It sort of feels weird." Keith smiled.

"It's alright." Shiro looked up at him. They both stared at each other for a moment before Ash started to cry. "Oh, baby." Keith swam over to him. Ash was still on the top step, bawling his eyes out."Ash!" Everyone looked over as Keith picked him up. He now had fluffy purple ears and his altean markings appeared and started to glow.

"Mommy!" Lilith cried. Her own altean markings appeared and started to glow as well. Keith took his two kids out of the water. The two crying in his arms.

"What's going on?" Lance came hurrying over. Keith was trying to soothe them down, but was panicking himself.

"Lance, god. You gotta help me!" Keith was tearing up. Lance gasped when he finally came over. Keith's  fluffy ears appeared, his skin turned purple and his eyes turned a glowing yellow. Shiro ran over, hauling himself out of the pool like he still had two arms. Lilith and Ash holding onto Keith. "I don't know what's going on!" Lance was trying to soothe them down, even Pidge as she rubbed Keith's back.

"God no." Shiro looked down at where his metal arm used to be. His veins around it were glowing purple. "We gotta Get them somewhere safe!" Lance looked up at Shiro.

"Y-you're..." Shiro cut him off.

"I know." He was trying to hurry. Lance picked up Lilith while Keith kept a hold of Ash.

"Where do we go?" Pidge looked over at Shiro.

"Get Allura and the rest. Alert the leader too." He looked very serious and pissed off. "They'll know what to do." Ash and Lilith were still crying. Keith as well. They didn't know why they turned like this so suddenly. It was scary.

"Shiro, do you know why this is happening?" Lance looked over at him. "It seems like you know something." Shiro looked over at Lance, then looked down.

"Quintessence." He said sternly.
