I sat down on your bed as you got out the remaining packets of cigarettes as I had asked you to.

You had 3.

I quickly chucked them in the trash, throwing in a lit match in case you had ideas of retrieving them.

"I'm sorry." You said, your voice mellow, lost.

Your face glowed as the light from the hearth glistened along it, you looked so beautiful, I had forgotten how to breathe.

"Do you trust me?"

You looked me, confused by the question, dust reflected off the sheen layer of your pupils but you didn't look hesitant when you replied this time, "Yes."

A smile broke free on my face and before I could give it second thoughts, I brushed my lips against yours.

Moments later, you let your hands trail to my hair, closing whatever space existed between us.

Butterflies broke free yet again as you fervently kissed back, touches I would never forget, kisses with hints of smoke.

When you pulled away, panting, forehead against mine, the twinkle in your eyes was something I'd never forget.
