"Okay, relax your body. Empty your mind. " She instructed. "Reach out your hands. "

Gabriel did as he was told, trying to get all the thoughts out of his head.

"Now, say 'ignis' as you concentrate on sending all your energy to the palms of your hands. " It probably won't immediately work. But Ana thought that Gabriel had a lot of energy and most importantly, a lot of emotions. So maybe, it would work by the end of the day.

Okay. How in God's name was he ever gonna send...energy to his hands? He thought about it for a moment and at the end, he just kept repeating 'Send my energy to my hands' in his head and felt after a while a tingling sensation rushing through his veins. Slowly, he said the word. "Ignis." But it didn't work.

"Good. Now do that again. Think about the things that went wrong in your life. Focus on the anger. " Ana encouraged.

He kept concentrating and slowly filled his mind with memories. The day he got banned from his village he had lived for twenty years. How angry he felt back then, he felt it again, really well. The day he almost lost his ship. The time they almost stole his locket. The day he almost lost Ana. It all angered him, and this time, he almost yelled the word. "Ignis." And a tiny flame stayed for a couple of seconds but then got out.

She stepped back as he almost yelled the word. But she had a proud look in her eyes. "Again." She said with a stern tone. Gabriel was her fastest student so far.

He repeated the actions and tried to focus more on the anger. Now when he said the word, the flame stayed for at least twenty seconds before it softly started to fade, but he tried to get more energy in the flame so it wouldn't go out and it lasted for another twenty seconds.

"Bigger. Let it burn longer and harder. " She encouraged. She was struck by awe of how fast he had learned it. Everyone she had ever tried to teach this to, took days to get a flame to burn for such a long time.

He flashed a smile and tried again. He now remembered the fight. The anger because they had stopped their kiss. The anger because of they would take her away from him and he didn't know what they were gonna do with her. What have they even done to her? She said that they locked her up. They /dared/ to lock her up?! Such a beautiful girl? Their princess? That should be forbidden! That was just....you cannot do that! He held the anger in his mind and slowly put more energy to his palm. He said the word sternly and now, a flame almost as big as hers was on his palm. Now, he must keep it there. He repeated all the memories into his mind, and as well kept putting energy into his palm, which definetely worked and now, it stayed for two and a half minute before he felt tired and he had to gave up. "... Could we have a pause?"

"No." She sternly said, crossing her arms. As she teached magic to people, she became merciless to the paint it was dangerous. And the captain was doing so well. If they stopped now, he'd loose concentration. And even though she loved Gabriel, she wasn't going to treat him differently. Her last student had fainted from exhaustion when they were trying to do a spell. "It is not enough." He may not know this but she did this for his own good. The royal guards do not study the crafts of magic. So if they would attack, Gabe could protect himself. Because he showed he was good with his sword. But not nearly good enough to defeat merman who had trained for it their whole life.

He looked at her, sighing. "But.." He wanted to say her he was really tired, a different way of tired though, but he also thought she would do this for a reason. "Okay, for you." This time, he would do it perfectly. And otherwise, he would get so angry at himself that it could grow and get perfect. He brought more and more energy to his hands, until they felt like they were gonna explode. He whispered the magical word softly, as he didn't want any energy to be spilled by that. Slowly, the fire rose up higher, and still feeling all the anger of the memories, he could make it grow as big as Ana's flame was. Okay, Gabriel, now stay focused and don't let the fire go out. Keep the energy in your hands, keep it right there. Let it flow through you from wherever the source is. Feel the love you get from Ana, let it help you. She is doing this for you so make her proud. You are already three minutes on the go, don't get weak. Stay focused and push yourself to the edge. But he couldn't help it and slowly the flame went out, even though it sometimes lit up a bit because of that he still pushed energy in it, and after five minutes, it went out and he collpased on his knees, panting.

"That's enough for now." She said in a softer voice, crouching down infront of him. "Congratulations, you surpassed a lot of beginning mages. " Ana said with a smile. "Now get some rest. Because you may have succeeded at the spell but you're not done yet with magic. "

He smiled as he looked up at her. "Thank you." He slowly got up, a bit wobbly, and got over to his cabin, where he took of his shirt and dropped himself on his bed, closing his eyes.

She shook her head as he wobbled away. He might have succeeded at an easy spell in a short time, he still isn't anywhere. If someone with powers attacked him, he'd die for sure. Ana got up and went to the steering wheel, making sure they still went the right way.
