Gabriel POV
Finally, they arrived at their destination. Not the most beautiful Island, as it was only rocks and sand. Not even trees, except for a few small ones. But it was his destination, after all. The crew waved him goodbye. He had given the lead of his ship to the first mate, only taking the locket with him. It now was around his neck. Oh, and not to forget the sack of money he had. After all, the myths said he had to pay. He saluted once towards his ex-crew now and then climbed over the big rocks, deeper into the Island, where more trees were. Cave, cave, cave, where was the goddamn cave?
Ah. There. Are you blind, Gabriel? Slowly, he got into the den, and even though he had no thing as fire, even though he could use the trick Ana taught him, he didn't need it. The whole cave was lighted by glowing mushrooms kind of things. Scary, but kind of pretty as well.
Then, he heard a voice. "Young sailor, what are you doing here?" It wasn't as old as he expected the witch to be, but that could be just a trick.
"I'm searching for someone that can help me." He said bravely, although he was scared.
"And you think I am the solution, mister Johnson?"
When he said his name, he did get worried. How? It is a witch, but still.
"Uh, yes, you are the only solution actually, sir." He said softly. And it was the truth. Only this man could help Gabriel, only this man was able to do the thing he wanted. So he stepped further, and suddenly, he saw a big fire. Green. Like Ana's. But...
"But yes, I can help you, even though I sense that you are aware of energy as well...Have you worked with magic?"
Gabriel decided to be honest. "Yes, though I only know one spell." He answered the witch's question. "But I am not here to learn more magic, I just want to-"
The witch grinned and thus cut him off. "You want to be with your true love, but you're unable to. And you want me to change you so you can."
Gabriel nodded. "Exactly. Change me in a merman. I have money and if you like I can even give you my energy."
"Oh, but I need no money...As you see, I'm getting older and older..I live off the beauty of young men like you. I'll only need your gorgeous, deep voice, and your looks. No worries, you'll stay the same, except for your hair will be white-greyish, and for your eyes the same colour, just like the moon." The other male explained, turning around so Gabriel could see him. He was quite pretty, Gabriel thought, looking like he was approximately 30 ears old. Maybe younger.
Gabriel was taken aback by the explanation for a moment. "But...How will she recognise me? And will I be able to see?"
"Glad you ask. It's your personality. And of course you'll be able to see. Otherwise you can't even swim in the ocean!"
Gabriel nodded. "And that's all what will change?" He asked, one eyebrow raised.
"Mhm. And your beautiful voice. Before you ask, let me explain. As I said, I live off the beauty of young, handsome men like you. I might look young, but I'm hundres of years old. I'm form a time that humans knew about their powers and accepted them.
The ex-captain nodded once again. "I'll do it. Anything that doesn't involvemy looks and voice?" Gabriel asked, just to be sure.
The witch shrugged. "Just a bit about breathing. Not much."
Gabriel smiled. "Okay. Now, give me a potion."
A contract appeared with a quill. "Sign."
The now soon to be mer did as he was told immediately and without hesitation.
The witch cackled like an old man. "Give me your voice. Keep talking! Say something, do something!" He commanded and started brewing in a cauldron.
Gabriel started humming a gentle tune, but it wasn't enough for the witch.
"Tell me something! It doesn't matter what, just say real words!"
Gabriel thought for a second. "Her name is Ana. I love her. I need to find her- She saved m-"
For a moment, his voice was cut off until the small bit of text was being repeated over and over. Some weird glowing ball floated out of his mouth to the witch, which captured it in a dark blue crystal. But as soon as his voice was trapped inside it, the colour changed to babyblue.
"Yes.." the witch said as he stood up and walked over to the literal speechless guy. "Now close your eyes, I won't hurt you, don't worry."
Gabriel did as he was told again, and soon he felt hands on his head, tugging his hair slightly.
As this was a turn on for him, Gabriel moaned, but it was completely silent, which was very odd to him.
Then, fingers brushed over his eyelids. "You can open your eyes again." The witch said softly.
When Gabriel did, he was shocked. That wasn't him he saw in the reflection of tje cauldron...But it was.
His thoughts were cut off because of the witch putting things in the cauldron
Smoke was coming off it and soon, the witch grabbed a small bottle. "Take it when you're at the water. Stay silent, wait, you already are."
Gabriel silently sighed as he looked at the bottle. That joke wasn't funny. But of course, he walked to the beach. It was night already. His old ship was still there. But his crewmates were sleeping and all the lights were off. He got over to the water and dove in, taking his clothes off firstly. Once he was in it, he grabbed the bottle and drank the strange liquid.
Pain. Lots of pain in his legs that forcefully morphed together. He screamed but nobody heard it. Nobody but the witch, who stayed out of sight. Of course he followed the guy, he wasn't done.
The pain ended just as sudden as it appeared. Gabriel suddenly had a tail, in a beautiful green and blue. He dove underwater as he felt muggy. Now that he had gills, he needed water, not oxygen.
This was the moment the witch waited for. He took Gabriel's clothes and put them on. With a snap of his fingers, he had Gabriel's looks. "Good." He said with Gabriel's voice.
He ran to the ship and climbed on it. Just to be held a dagger against his throat.
"Calm, it's me. The witch didn't want any gold."
With a quick analysis, the new 'captain' knows his name is Alex. "Alex, it's okay."
The guy lets him go. "I'm sorry, captain Johnson."
"Dontcha worry, 's all okay. In the morning, we'll sail again and we will see where we end up. Even though he already knew where they would go. Atlantis.
