Chapter 4: Half

"What do you mean? Dean, you're human." Sam replied.

"How the hell would a demon not recognize me?" Dean asked, shutting the trunk cautiously eying the devil's trap painted on it.

"He could be messing with your head."

"True." Dean replied. He pulled over and opened the trunk. "Better be safe than sorry."

Sam opened his door and followed him. He was about to ask what he meant when Dean stabbed the demon with the knife and threw his body mercilessly out of the trunk.

"What the hell was that?" Sam asked, getting back into the Impala.

"Precaution." Dean replied, without taking his eyes off the road. "Now tell me what the hell I am! Don't lie to me again."

"You're human." Sam replied.

"If I was human, that demon would of behaved a little differently, don't you think?" Dean snapped.

"Dean..."

"What happened between you and Cas?" Dean demanded. "It wasn't nothing!"

"We thought we brought you back all the way. We didn't want to tell you, because you were just starting to be yourself again. Now, look at you!"

"Remember how it felt being lied to?" Dean challenged. "Tell me, or so help me, God-!"

"What? What will you do?"

"Don't test me." Dean warned. "I know I'm not exactly human."

"Dean!" Sam shouted, pointed to the person on the road in front of them. Dean opened the door then took out his demon knife.

"Where's Dean Winchester?" Dean tensed when his eyes flicked black.

"Why don't you go to hell?" Dean said with disgust.

Dean clenched his hand into a fist. The demon put a hand to his throat and a puff of black smoke came out of his mouth. Dean looked at his hand, speechless. He paused and tried to remember watching Sam use his abilities he gained from demon blood. He raised his arm and concentrated. He pulled until there was no more black smoke and he fell onto the road. Dean quickly laid the man on a bench near the road and drive off.

Sam and Dean drove down the road in silence. Dean shot an annoyed glance at Sam who stared quietly out the window. Sam glanced at the side mirror to see Dean's face. He seemed to ask Sam through the silence.

"Do you think you can tell me now?" Dean asked with annoyance. He gripped the steering wheel harder. Sam sighed before admitting to Dean.

"You're half demon."
