Chapter 17

A Few Days Later...4/12/2013 6:00 AM

Liv and I lie awake in bed.

"How do you feel about kids?" Liv asks me.

"I love kids. I want kids. I'm ready to have kids."

"You are?"

"Yes."

"Me too."

"Really?"

"Yes."

"I say you cancel your Doctor's appointment for your next shot and then we can start trying for a baby in a month or so."

"My Doctor's appointment is in a month...if I don't go...then I won't get the shot...if I don't get the shot, I'll start ovulating again, which means I can get pregnant."

"Yes...that is what that means." I say jokingly. Liv lightly punches me on the shoulder and gives me a kiss on the cheek.

A Little Over A Month Later...5/30/13

I awaken to the sound of yelling. After wiping the sleep out of my eyes, I get out of bed and make my way into the bathroom. Liv is on her knees in front of the toilet. She's throwing up. I walk over to Liv and drop to my knees next to her. I start rubbing her back.

"This is the third morning in a row that you've thrown up. Do you think you could be pregnant?" Liv shakes her head yes.

"This is so exciting. Ok...um...I'm going to leave you alone for a bit, so you can take the test. I'll be in our bedroom if you need me, ok?"

"Ok." Liv mumbles.

"I love you. Remember to brush your teeth."

"I will. Love you too." Liv mumbles. I stand up, exit the bathroom, walk over to the bed, and sit down on the edge of it.

Ten Minutes Later...6:11 AM

"Amanda...Amanda baby...I'm pregnant. I'm pregnant. This is so exciting." Liv yells. I stand up and make my way over to Liv. I wrap my arms around her and claim her lips. We make out for a few minutes, and then we pull away from each other.

"This is so exciting. We need to schedule an appointment with your doctor. We also need to go shopping for baby supplies. I guess we can do that in a few months, seeing as you're only a week or so preg..." Liv cuts off my rambling with a kiss.

"Sorry. I'm just really excited right now."

"Me too. I'm pregnant Amanda. This is so exciting. I'm going to go get ready for work. Do you think we should tell the guys today, or do you think we should tell them later...when I'm further along?"

"I think we should tell them today."

"Me too. Ok...I'm going to schedule an appointment with my Doctor for tomorrow, ok?"

"Ok." I mumble. Liv grabs her cell phone off of the nightstand, dials the number for her Doctor, and puts the phone to her ear. A couple of seconds later...

"Hello...yes...this is Olivia Benson-Rollins. I need to schedule an appointment with Alysse for tomorrow. Ok...yes...9:00 works for me. Thanks. See you tomorrow...bye." Liv hangs up the phone and sets it down on the nightstand.

A Little Over An Hour Later...7:30 AM

Liv and I walk into the squad room.

"Hey Amanda...hey Liv. How are you guys doing?" Fin asks Liv and I.

"We're doing well. Is Captain Cragen in yet?" I ask Fin.

"Yes...he's in his office." Liv and I make our way over to Captain Cragen's office. Liv knocks on the door.

"Come in!" Captain Cragen yells. Liv opens the door and the two of us step into the office and Liv closes the door behind us.

"Hello ladies. What can I do for you?"

"We have some exciting news to tell you." Liv says.

"Ok. What's the news?" Cragen asks Liv and I.

"I'm pregnant." Liv says excitedly.

"You're pregnant?" Cragen asks Liv.

"Yes." Liv and I say in unison. Cragen gets out of his chair and makes his way over to Liv and I. He pulls the both of us into a group hug.

"I'm happy for you guys. You know what this means right?"

"What does it mean sir?" I ask Cragen.

"It means that Liv is going to have to go on desk duty." Cragen says.

"I hate desk duty."

"I know you do Liv; but the last thing we need is something happening to the baby." Cragen says.

"You're right. I'm going to go start on paper work. Let me know if we catch a case." Liv says.

"Ok." Cragen says as he let's go of Liv and I. Ring! Ring! Ring!

"I got it." Cragen says. He walks over to his desk and picks up his phone. Liv and I leave his office and make our way to our desks.

"Fin...Munch...Jane...we have something to tell you guys." Jane Nicholas joined our unit two weeks ago. She's from Boston. She's the wife of Alex Nicholas...the lady that helped me down in Brazil. Alex is our new M.E. Melinda was fired.

"What is it?" Munch asks Liv and I.

"I'm pregnant." Liv says excitedly.

"Wow...congratulations guys. I'm really happy for you." Fin says.

"Thanks." Liv and I say in unison.

"Congratulations guys." Munch says.

"Thanks." Liv and I say in unison.

"Congratulations." Jane says.

"Thanks." Liv says.

"We've caught a case guys. A young man was raped and beaten by his boyfriend. I need Amanda and Jane to head to Bellevue and talk to the boy. Fin and Munch...I need you two to head to the crime scene at 1343 West 28th Street."

"Ok." I say. After giving Liv a kiss on the cheek, Jane and I take our leave.
