+The Silent Five+
~Chapter 5~
Peter's POV:
After spending an hour cleaning up the mess in the grocery store the boys and I were being grilled by a pissed off Dylan while Nate just let it happen.
“A gallon of milk really?”
“She challenged my manhood!” Justin exclaimed, “and no one challenges a man’s manhood it’s unconstitutional!”
“Manhood? You couldn’t even kill the spider that was in the shower this morning!” Dylan snorted rolling his eyes in annoyance. Damon laughed quietly, but when Dylan casted his glare on him he tried to turn it into coughing claiming allergies.
“You could’ve blown our cover! You’re a secret agent your cover is everything dude! Do you know how hard it was to convince the police not to book you for ‘disturbing the peace’.” He added. Justin just grumbled unhappily sinking lowly in his chair knowing he’s lost this battle.
"Okay Dylan calm down I believe you’ve officially accomplished making Justin feel like shit.” Nate finally spoke up placing a firm hand on Dylan’s shoulder as he was about to make another point. Dylan mumbled something uncomprehendable flopping himself down in his chair. He gave one last glare to Justin and turned to his computer without another word. He always glued to the thing you’d think he’s married to it.
“Did those two younger girls look familiar to you?” Nate finally asked after minutes of tense silence.
"What do you mean?" I asked confused trying to remember any cases or people we’ve encountered similar to the girls.
"You know didn't they like, sorta remind you of a case we did once?" He replied thoughtfully.
"You know Nate now that you mention it they do remind of that one case we did on those twin orphans." Damon said nodding in agreeance, realization evident in his face.
“What’re you guys talking about?” I asked.
“It was a case we did before you joined the team, one of our firsts actually.” Nate replied not releasing any other information. He turned to Dylan dismissing me, rude much, and began asking him questions.
"Do you think they’re involved in the break ins?" Nate asked Dylan, “Do you think you could relocate their information and try to link it to our robin hoods?”
"Please that’s insulting, of course I can.” Dylan scoffed “Just give me an hour or so.”
Stephanie's POV:
"Well that was fun." I huffed leaning against the tree closest to me bending over putting my hands on my knees and proceeded to breathe hard.
"You're telling me, I actually thought you were going to murder that guy." Fawn stated jabbing her finger back in the direction of the store breathing hard.
“No one tells Violet or Mo.” Out of the corner of my eye I saw Dawn shaking her head at us in disapproval not even looking the least bit tired.
"Well isn't someone full of breath how'd you manage that?" I asked standing upright again putting my hands on my hips staring at Dawn while she just shrugged her shoulders with a smirk on her lips and amusement in her eyes at our lack of oxygen.
"Can we just go home now and worry about her abnormal breathing later." Fawn said grumpily. Mood swing much. After we spent an extra few minutes of being lazy and just leaning against the trees enjoying the air and scenery we started on the thirty minute walk back to the cabin.
"Steph what are we gonna do when we show up without any food?" Fawn asked from behind me which caused me to stop dead in my tracks. In response to my sudden stop Fawn ran into my back and Dawn walked right into Fawn's back not noticing the stop.
"Oh my god i didn't notice that!" I exclaimed spinning around panicky.
"Do you think Violet will be happy surviving off of milk for a while?" Fawn asked staring nervously at the gallon of milk in my hands and spinning her hair in her fingers nervously while Dawn looked just as nervous.
"Man, I don't wanna get chewed out tonight." I said tapping my foot thinking of something we could do.
"Maybe, we could become ninjas or live with the squirrels in the trees and hide there until Violet becomes too old to fuss at us. Me and Dawn have planned for a situation like this made friends with a lovely squirrel family that will happily welcome us to the family." Fawn said while Dawn nodded approvingly walking to a nearby tree and began climbing up the tree.
"No, no we can't do that she can probably sense us." I said grabbing Dawn and setting her back on the ground to which she crossed her arms not happy about me touching her, but then took on a thoughtful look.
After a good ten minutes of us thinking off in our own worlds Dawn started to head off into the woods in the opposite direction of the cabin.
"Where you going?" Fawn asked staring after Dawn's back. Dawn gave her the one minute signal to which she replied with a fine. After around five minutes of Fawn and I waiting chatting randomly about koalas and ferrets Dawn reappeared with something in her hands.
"It's about time. What's in your hands?" Fawn asked looking at Dawn's hands curiously and a little impatiently. Dawn opened her hands to reveal...berries?
"Umm Dawn why are there berries in your hands?" I asked pointing towards the black looking berries. Dawn looked at me like I was stupid and then motioned to the berries in a 'what do you think' motion.
"What are a bunch of stupid berries going to do to keep Violet from chewing us out?" Fawn said throwing her hands up in the air to which Dawn just shrugged and slowly started heading back in the direction of the cabin.
"Harsh much?" I whispered/yelled at Fawn thumping her lightly.
"Well I'm sorry I don't know how a bunch of berries are going to save our butts." She whispered back rubbing her head in the spot I thumped her walking faster to get ahead of me.
After about twenty more minutes of us trudging to the cabin which would've been a shorter time limit of Fawn didn't get her foot stuck in a tree limb and Dawn finding us struggling to get Fawn's foot unstuck hilarious and silently laughing at our failing struggles. I swear about these two sometimes i just want to leave them in the woods alone sometimes, but knowing my luck Violet would chew me out and then I'd have to go retrieve them, then have to hear Fawn complain about how she could've starved to death or died from a bear attack while Dawn would once again laugh silently in her devious mind with amusement clear in her eyes, but a hint of anger which will lead to her planning silent revenge.
"Okay so our story is clear we didn't bring home food because Dawn got mugged by a bunch of older men and us being our heroic selves saved her butt and rushed home instead of going to the store." Fawn said seriously glancing at Dawn and I for confirmance.
"Fawn do you seriously think Violet will buy that bit? Why don’t we just tell her the truth.” I said bluntly rolling my eyes at her plan. She crossed her arms huffing angrily.
“Always ruining my fun.”
“Let’s go.”
