The mistake that followed

chapter 3

3 Arielle 

We drove in silence I didn't know where we were going but I really did not want to be any where near my mom right now . I ran my hand through my hair in frustration . I needed to think good things I told myself . My phone rang I shuffled in my sit to get it . I saw that it was my mother and ignored it.  she was the last person that I wanted to see or talk to at the moment . I had not realized  the car was parked and John was just staring at me. "what are you staring at ?" said Arielle 

"sorry you just seem so frustrated is there some thing  that is on your mind we can talk about it if you want to or not ?"

I could not believe my ears why would I tell him any thing was he really that stupid or had no sense at all . He stared at me stupidly Waiting for my reply. I inhaled sharply then exhaled slowly running a hand of frustration  Through my hair . I decide I should answer but what should I say my mother abuses me , I'm not liked in school because of one stupid mistake and oh yea one more thing my fathers going to die from cancer  yea I dont have any thing on my mind.

  with a Snort I changed my mind and decided not to say any thing to him but just sit instead  I told myself. Then I heard him take a sharp breath and start the car again. We drove for hours not saying any thing all he heard out of me was the oohhs and ahhhs as we past some thing beautiful. I caught him smiling and staring and me from time to time but other than that he said nothing and I was glad for the silence because it gave me time to think . I got tired of watching the nice buildings and decided to dose off to sleep because I had nothing better to do .

John 

I watched her fall asleep slowly she looked so peaceful but then again also trouble hearted. She was in pain I saw her move around in her sleep I got worried . She had this look on her face that made me frighten I got tired of just sitting there and watching her in the parking lot so I decided that I should just shake her no matter the reaction . When I did she was crying not a soft cry a full blow cry with the screams and every thing. For the first time in hours she said some thing "hold me John" she said I didn't hesitant at all . I didn't let go until she stopped crying I rubbed her back and talked to her soothingly . I told her every thing is going to be ok but she kept crying I wanted to know what had happened to make her feel this way . I wanted to help her but she didn't want to let me in not one bit that is what hurt the most . I felt like every time I tried to get close to her she pulls back suddenly . she had kissed me but now she is acting like she does not care like if she is mad at the world . This attitude does not fit the Arielle I know some thing has changed and I'm going to find out . I had a plan to make her fall in love with me but I was unsure it would work . 

We climb out of the car and walk to the outlet . I tried to hold her hand but she just pulled away and started to walk a bit faster . I was running out of ideas and ways for her to at least  look at me the way she used to . With the passion in her eyes it even sparkled there was a hint of green in her hazel eyes that I grow to love . I didn't know how to tell her these things that's all I thought about as we walked . 

I decided maybe i can buy her but not literally . My mom always said money cant buy love but it won't hurt to try . 

Every thing she stopped look at I  Bought but she did nor even notice that I was doing it . After three hours of shopping I decided that it was time to get some thing to eat . We stopped at a food court . I wanted to ask her if she was hungry but the words would not come out . I just did the most sane thing to do was pull her to the long line . I was deciding between a hot dog or cheesy fries . When I felt some one staring at me . I looked down it was her .

"thank you " said Arielle that's all she said before looking away . I was filled with confusion and also happiness she finally said some thing . I was wondering why those choice of words . I wanted to say your welcome but the words would not come out when they did I kind of stuttered " yy-your welcome but can I know why  " she was kind of surprised to hear me say something so i was about to ask again when she said " thank you for begin there when I need a hand that's all" then she gave me a shy smile . We were to busy looking at each other to notice that we were in front of the line and the lady was asking for our order . I told the lady I want a got dog with cheesy fires and a coke . "Arielle would you like anything ?" 

" I would like the same but make my coke a cherry coke instead " 

"that will be 12 dollars and 43 cents debt or cash ?" Said the lady behind the counter . 

" cash " i pulled out 15 dollars then told her to keep the change . We then went to find a table so we can eat . I stopped to take a sip from my Coke and there she was turning up her lips at me her facial expression had made me laugh so hard  That now i had coke coming out of my nose and on to her . Now she was glaring at me like I did some thing wrong.

Finally I said "what happened ?"trying to hold in my laugh but failed miserably . 

She pointed at my Coke and made up her face then said "how can you drink that ?" 

I shrugged "what can I say I love me some Coke " with a flirtatious grin and a wink I took a big gulp of my coke knowing she won't like it one bit . After eating I asked if she wanted to go into any more stores she said no. We we're walking out of the outlet when she stopped in front a jewelry store with widen eyes covering her month i saw the 

Tears and got worried . "are you ok ?" I had to ask .

"I had a chain like that and Rebecca took it from me and said she was going to sell it my father gave it to me " 

"do you want it ? I would buy it if you want it back ?"

"you would do that for me ?" 

"yea of coarse " I pulled her into the store she was hesitant at first but then she came willingly . I asked the lady for the chain and gave it to Arielle the lady looked at us worried as if we were going to steal it right then and there . I asked Arielle if it was the chain she said yes. Then the lady finally spoke . 

"this fine piece of jewelry is very expense I'm un sure If your kind can afford it " with that she asked us to leave that just got me angry . Arielle was on her way out and I wanted her to have it . So I turned and said "how much ?" before the lady can asked Arielle said "you don't have to let's go us BLACK people can't afford it " and with that she was gone . I glared at the lady and said "well how much ?" 

She was going to say some thing when I pulled out my black card . Then I smiled told her who my father was then smirked at the lady . She bagged the necklace and said "how ?" 

"how what ?" 

"your black "

"what took you so long ?"

"this " and I put the box in her hand ; her emotions started to change one at a time until she was crying and I found my self holding her . She pulled away then  I turned on the car and told her to get in she paused then did as I said . We drove back in silence when we got to a red light she juniper on top of me I wasn't mad I just was happy she was touching me let's just hope this last .
