MACKENZIE ARISED FROM HER BED, scratching her eyes— a gesture commonly used once a person has just woken up.
as she looked over, johnny was no longer there. but, once she looked over to her desk, she saw a note from him.

i had to go back home quick so that they didn't know. but also because i got to head to basketball practice. watch the game, maybe? game's at 3:00 pm. hope to see you there!

she smiled as she looked at his average handwriting. she appreciated how much he cared about her coming, maybe the state of being when they were bestfriends were coming back, and that's all they wanted.
well, not really kenzie.
she still loved him, and she would always consider herself dumb after doing what she did back in the hot month of july. but, really, as they would both always say, it was for the best.
at this moment, her feelings grew back a bit more. but, they weren't the strongest. she didn't want to fall for him again, because if she did and he liked her back, they would be back in the relationship filled with arguments.
but she didn't want to think of that, so she shrugged it off.

she arrived at the doorstep, with meredith, johnny and lauren's mother, welcoming her in and opening the door a tad bit wider, making space for her to come in.
mackenzie then headed upstairs to lauren's room, knocking on the white door.
lauren quickly opened it, and grabbed her, bringing her inside.
"woah, what was that for?" mackenzie asks, shocked.
"do you know where was my brother last night?" lauren asks, skipping her question.
