"Taehyung," Hoseok half-whispers, leaning over the table. "The new guy has been staring at you for three minutes straight, even though there is a ton of girls surrounding him." His eyes narrow suspiciously. "Is there something you haven't told me? Is he your secret lover?"
The blonde boy forces the corners of his mouth to peak upwards at his friend's joking in something that resembles a smile, although it never reaches his eyes. His gaze is focused on the plate in front of him, filled up with different steamed vegetables and a slice of pizza. The greasy cheese hangs over the crust of it. There are big drops of oil evident on it and they all just seem to laugh at him mockingly because he can't eat that.
"You sure it's not me he's checking out?" Yoongi asks with a smirk.
Hoseok rolls his eyes. "Don't flatter yourself, hyung. The only one who's ever looked at you twice is that cute little blonde in your class, and you don't even have the balls to go talk to him."
They are talking about Park Jimin. A real sweetheart indeed, yet Taehyung can't seem to stop casting long glances of jealousy whenever he walks past. Heck, he doesn't even know why. Jimin isn't even that skinny -- he just wears it really well. And he's short.
Sighing, he twirls the cheese around his fork, watching as it stretches and stretches and refuses to let go of its grip on that carb-filled crust. Oh, what he would give to shrink an inch or two. Become a little shorter, a little more dainty. Light as a feather. A fragile piece of glass that can be shattered by a mere touch.
Weightless.
Hoseok's sudden gasp snaps his out of his trail of thoughts,
"Uh-oh, he noticed me looking at him. He's coming this way, Taehyung. Oh my, he's even hotter up close. I swear, if you won't have him then I'll gladly volunteer." Wink-wonk.
Taehyung kicks his leg under the table -- or at least what he thinks is his leg until he hears Yoongi let out a groan of pain -- and that's all he gets to do before his dark-haired classmate reaches their table.
After a short round of introductions, Jungkook places his food tray beside Tae's still full one and sits down. "Rough weekend?" He asks, looking at Taehyung who still refuses to look up.
"No. . . Or, you know. The usual." His grip on the fork tightens.
"Actually," Jungkook starts, resting his chin in the palm of his hand as he looks at the blonde through his dark eyelashes. "I don't know. You don't really strike me as the party type of guy."
"What gave it away," Hoseok starts teasingly. "The fact that he wears emo clothes that scream stay away or the fact that I and hyung are seemingly the only friends he's got?"
Both, Taehyung thinks.
"None of the above," Jungkook continues, noticing how the blonde's cheeks are tinted slightly pink out of embarrassment. Cute. "It is the fact that he keeps a diary."
Hoseok chokes on his drink, pink milk starting to spill from his nose. "WHAT?"
Taehyung's face almost matches the color of the fishy pizza sauce. "I-I don't," he stutters.
Oh god.
Ohgodohgodohgod. If you really exist, please let me be swallowed up by a hole in the ground.
"I'm not really surprised," Yoongi says, his expression unreadable. "I mean, if any of us were to keep a diary, it'd be him."
Hoseok can't find any arguments to that.
Taehyung pouts like a little baby. Jungkook really wants to pinch his cheek.
Instead, he stands up,
"Well, it's been nice meeting you. I better get going to the meeting I have with my physics teacher before class." He is about to walk away when he suddenly remembers something. He tears a small part off the napkin and scribbles something down on it before handing it to Taehyung. "This is my number. Text me yours later." Seeing the blonde's confused look, he explains, "In case we want to talk about the project. You know our grade depends on our unconditional teamwork, right? I expect you to do your best." With that, he turns around and leaves.
He might as well just flip his hair.
As he walks away, Hoseok turns to Yoongi again. "See, hyung? Told you he wasn't checking you out."
