Monday in school, everyone was talking about their own thing. But of course, lots of people knew about the Jaylin/Trey situation. Trey was popular and a liar. As Jaylin and the boys walked the halls, Jaylin hugged her jacket closet to her. She felt very judged and insecure. She hurried to her locker and the boys went to find her a friend.

Maya, a girl who had a few friends and had somewhat of a self esteem, was standing at her locker just as the boys approached her. She looked at them and shut her locker. "Can I help you?"

"Hey, so, I'm Greyson, and there's Beau and Zach. You are?" Greyson said.

"Maya," she said.

"Wanna come to my house after school? They'll be there too and we have a friend we want you to meet," Greyson said.

Maya was so confused. "You don't even know me. So no."

"Come on. We won't hurt you or anything. The friend we want you to meet is Jaylin. She really needs a girl friend to do girl things with," Greyson pleaded.

"Jaylin? As in slept with Trey, brunette Jaylin?" Maya asked.

"She didn't-- Look, it's a lot to explain. Please? Sit with us at lunch. You'll see she's such a good person," Zach said.

"Okay, fine," Maya said, slinging her bag on her shoulder. "Bye."

Maya walked to her class and saw Jaylin standing at her locker. She was so confused on what to believe. Was Jaylin really a nice person or was she the slut everyone claimed her to be? Maya took a deep breath and decided to wait till lunch to "know" Jaylin.

Meanwhile, Jaylin was struggling to move her feet to go to class. She was emotionally drained and couldn't bring herself to do anything productive. Finally, she walked to her class and plopped in her seat. People walking in giggled at Jaylin and whispered rumors about her.

The teacher was talking to the class about how the kids of today believe everything they see or read.

"Yeah, um, my friend wanted to test pop rocks and coke together to see if it really exploded and it didn't," Jaylin shrugged talking about a day at Trey's before he did that to her.

"Aw, she has friends?" A girl on the other side said. "How? She's so ugly and pathetic."

Jaylin desperately wanted to leave. She just wanted to stand and walk out of the classroom right then and there. But she couldn't. And she knew that.

When lunch rolled around, Jaylin sat with the boys with no food in front of her. She didn't have an appetite anymore. Beau's feelings went away, but he still cared. The boys got their food and Mays finally found their table.

"Jaylin, this is Maya," Greyson smiled.

Jaylin looked at Maya and waved. "Hi."

Maya sat next to Jaylin and began to eat her lunch.

"So, Maya, tell us about you," Greyson said.

Maya sighed. "I'm seventeen, I have an older and younger brother. My mom passed away ten months ago and my dad works full time at a chemical plant."

There was a silence at the table before Zach broke it.

"Jaylin? Wanna tell Maya about you?" He asked.

"Um... I got amnesia a while ago. I was happy until Trey... Hurt me. I've been leaning on these guys and Greyson's mom for support."

Maya stared at Jaylin in an observatory way. She noticed Jaylin's depressed body language and looked back at the boys.

"Um, we can go to the mall later if you want," Maya shrugged.

Jaylin stood. "No thanks. I don't feel like being a charity case. You clearly don't wanna be around me. I'm almost positive that the boys put you up to this. It's fine."

"Wait--"

"There's no hope there," Greyson stopped Maya. "Once she leaves, she has to calm herself."

"Well, I tried," Maya shrugged.

"No you didn't," Beau said. "You made it seem like we prisoner you."

Maya rolled her eyes and folded her arms. "What am I supposed to do?"

"How about being nice to her? Making conversation?" Zach suggested.

Maya had never been good at friend making. But she didn't want to be Jaylin's friend. She knew nothing about her. "How about you find someone else to be her friend?"

"Hey, babe," a football player, Chris, kissed Maya's cheek.

Chris was Maya's boyfriend. Maya didn't like being with him, but he was one of those possessive guys who wouldn't let you leave. Maya was able to act like she loved him though.

"Gotta go," she told the boys and left.

"We can find someone else," Zach said.

"We have to be picky," Greyson said. "I thought Maya would be nice and she wasn't."

"What if we let Jaylin choose her own friends?" Beau suggested

"But she won't," Greyson said.

"Um, hi," a red head walked up. "Y'all are friends with Jaylin, right?"

"Yeah, why?" Greyson stood.

"Follow me. Hurry," she said and lead them to where Jaylin was sitting against a locker crying. It wasn't till they got closer to her that they noticed papers upon papers in front of her that had insults written all over them. School sucked for Jaylin.
