Jaylin had locked herself in her room. She wasn't letting anyone in anymore. She felt bad about what had just happened and didn't want to drag anyone down with her. She looked out the window and felt a wave of sadness cloud over her. She shut the blinds and curled in bed.

She felt as if her life was over, but she had also never felt so alive. She'd stood up for herself, but she'd also had that backfire. She kept having to remind herself that her life wasn't a fairytale. She wasn't "that girl."

Y'know? That girl in movies where she changes everyone's lives for the better and made the bad guys good? Jaylin wanted to be that, but she wasn't. And didn't feel like she ever would be.

"Jaylin? Sweetie, open the door. I'm not mad. I just wanna talk to you," Ms. Hilary knocked on her door.

Jaylin didn't respond.

"Greyson already called me and told me what happened. That's why I'm here. Jaylin, you can't shut us out. You need help and we want to help you," Ms. Hilary said.

Jaylin rolled off the bed and slugged to the door. She used the doorknob for support and stood. Ms. Hilary looked over Jaylin, taking in everything about her. Part of Ms. Hilary's cop training was learning the stance of someone who's depressed--y'know for suicidal patients. But she couldn't see Jaylin killing herself.

"Are you okay?" Ms. Hilary asked.

"I'm fine," Jaylin shrugged. "Just tired."

"Are you sure?"

Jaylin looked down and nodded. She had a huge hole in her and she didn't know how to fix it.

"Hey," Greyson came up to Jaylin's door and stood by his mom. "Mom, can I talk to her a second?"

"Sure. Open doors," she said.

Jaylin looked at Greyson and faked a smile. "Hi."

"About what happened--"

"I'm fine, Greyson," Jaylin lied.

"No, you're not. And I don't want you to fall so far into depression that you can't get out," he touched her arm.

She took a step back. "Don't worry about me."

"What can I do to help?" He asked.

She could feel her knees unlocking and everything going numb. "Nothing."

She shut the door and locked it before throwing herself on her bed and sobbing into her pillow. Flashbacks of that day when Trey raped her, and just images of him flashed through her mind and she couldn't shake them. After sobbing, she laid on her side and went to sleep.

Meanwhile, the boys downstairs were playing video games. Ms. Hilary had gone back to work so it was just Greyson, Zach, and Beau.

"Guys, Jaylin's falling into depression real fast," Greyson said.

"Well, what are we supposed to do?" Zach asked.

"I don't know. She's not letting anyone help her," Greyson shrugged.

"Do you think she'll be okay?" Beau asked.

"Maybe. Y'know what we should do? Find her another girl to hang out with!" Greyson snapped his fingers. "She has no girl friends and every girl needs that weird girl friend or whatever."

"Who knows a girl Jaylin could be friends with?" Beau asked.

They all sat there for a moment, realizing they weren't that social with girls.

"We'll search in school on Monday," Greyson said.

"Sounds like a plan," the boys agreed.
