be careful what you do

my mother told me to be careful who i loved.

well, i didn't choose to fall for you.

my heart over-rid my mind.

now, i'm stuck on this bloody roller coaster,

unable to unlatch myself from you.

it would be better for everyone, especially me.

my mother warned me not to give myself away.

and that, i refused to do.

but you grabbed my hand and took all my common sense with it.

we fell hard, and we fell fast.

you were genius in the art of being in love, having loved before.

me, i was nothing short of a neophyte.

an unskilled archer aiming for a heart i couldn't obtain.

see, you are a wild creature,

and that seems to be the only thing holding me back.

i've seen your fangs and claws.

both have lashed at me before, but you've been forgiven.

i know who you are.

behind the facade and the act, you are just a shattered as they come.

you were born damaged.

and damaged angels often fall from heaven.

my mother told me to be careful who i loved.

and we were dangerous and unsteady.

but love is what we had.

love is what we will always have,

even long after you've forgotten me.

i will always remember you because you put me back together, while also breaking my heart.

and i was just too stupid to realize it.

until it was far too late.

so, let me be cold.

let my heart be stone so i may sink you soon.
