Kert
We can't go to Erie; it's a death sentence for all of us. Natasha helped people get on board, but I pulled her aside.
"What the hell, Nash? Out of all places, Erie? We can't go on a death mission", I spat angrily, trying to put sense into her. Trying to remind her that Erie and Soto's history go way back.
"I know. It isn't my choice either, but if it's for the rebellion, I can't argue", Natasha went past me and continued helping the people. I don't get her. How can she blindly follow orders of some stranger that supposedly led this whole thing? She's not going to cause deaths this way.
"Nash, listen we can't do this," I pointed out. She turned, her face not changed at all. Neutral.
"Too late to change your mind. And besides, what does Erie got on us? Try to think of better for yourself and others", she scolded, then talked to Mika and Avery in a switch of her tone. I can't do this. I took control of the ocean. It's draining me fast, my legs wobbled, and my arms strained slowly, but I didn't care. I rose the water over the submarines, about to wash them away, so we don't go on this mission.
Natasha held the water before I realized that people were still in the submarines, opened and naked without protection. She calmly put the water in the ocean, leaving it back to its natural currents. No people were drowned or cast away, but she glared at me, with fury.
"How dare you?! You nearly killed the people on the submarines. Get out; I'll never want to see you again", she hissed. The sun was down, but I felt a rip in my heart. What happened to me?
"GO! You're useless", she screamed. Throwing water near my feet, as a sign of getting out of my face. However, as I was about to walk to Soto, Mika stopped me.
"Stay. I know how much your sister means to you, I can see it in your eyes", she replied softly.
"No Mika, he almost drowned the people on the submarines. He doesn't deserve to join the rebellion", Natasha bellowed. Most people agreed, but some remained silent.
"My lady. It's your brother. Just as short-tempered as Isana, so please re-considered the fact he's trying to tell you something", she sternly added. Natasha was taken back, looking at Mika and me. She sighed deeply.
"Fine...he'll stay. And for the record, that tone is new to you", Natasha teased, but mostly exhausted. Mika blushed heavily.
"I-I'm sorry. I was irritated," Mika exclaimed. Natasha smiled.
"It's fine. You're right", Natasha replied. Mika sighed with relief, but Natasha turned to me, cold.
"Don't think its good between us right now. It'll take time", Natasha harshly spoke, going inside the submarine. Mika turned to me, her smile empathy-like.
"I don't think she wants to be in the submarine with you because you know--," she pointed toward the water. I nodded tears flooding. It feels like I'm already losing her. Stupid me, never get to be as humble as her.
"Look, I'm sure whatever went through your mind is valid," she assured looking at me.
"I nearly killed people. In my opinion on the mission. I feel stupid", I held my face in my hands. She rubbed my back, sitting on the sand beside the beach, while the stars are above. All the submarines submerged underwater, except one onshore, open to just a small group of people.
"You're not stupid. If it makes you better, we'll go to my submarine with Avery". I nodded and went in with her. She closed the latch, and we submerged. How many more things can I ruin before its too late?
